i would veg with the hps and the cfls buddie..
why not and it will grow better as two light spectrums seems to work really well

i had a single plant under a 25wcfl for 2 weeks ... it was bigger than the ones under my 400w MH
i also fried about 10 plants that were a few days old with the 400wwhen i first got it .. my only noob mistake so far

Looks like you got a great deal with those HPS Lights. $25 each is a steal friend.
In the picture it looks it has a protective cage around it. Is that removable? seems like it would only hinder available light.

i keep my 250w about 11 inches away but have the fan on sumtymes in case it gets hot ite man

I have a new sprout which I found in a cup with seeds I didn't think were gonna sprout
and it was bent so now I put it in the light and its straightening up a bit....

My other 2 babies are looking beautiful
