dry room reeks of hay????

my buds in my dry closet reek like hay wen i open the door....but wen i grab them and harass them thy smell good....normal? also

ive been stuffed up (nose) for a few days now, and this is my first day with being able to breathe fully during my clipping and harveting which started 2 days ago....and though i wasnt really able to smell the previous days, the whiffs that i did get are totally different than what i smell today, but all from the same strain...is this at all possible? Even the buds ive hung today smell and almost look completely different....the first 2 plants smell like hayish and wen i get up close and squeeze, hazey and these next 2 have fully smelled like straight sour lemons....strain is super lemon haze....

The hayish smell comes from the temperature being to high during flowering, also if you cut the fan leaves off it may have contributed to the smell as well. The smell will dissipate when cured for a while and the smell does not affect potency at all. Good luck man!!

Interesting diagnosis. I'm actually intrigued on where you found that high temps in flowering contribute to the dreaded, post-harvest, "hay" smell. It's been an ongoing debate on RIU on the causes of that smell. Premature harvest, insufficient drying/curing, and genetics have all been suspect. Look forward to your reply or pm me.

im actually thinking too low humidity, too quick drying....the buds from 2 days ago are feeling very dry, but wet when squeezing, and even the buds from yesterdays cuttings are feeling similar...the only closet i had available was in my room which has a strong a/c unit in the window....im thinking its time to invest in a relative humidity reader as mine broke days before harvest, and possibly a humidifier...iuts humid out today, i have all my windows open and am letting the house heat up, cause im pretty positive the a/c dried the shit out of my room and in doing that, the closet as well....im gunna give em another day or so and see what the deal is, if they feel more crisp ill jar em asap and hopefully balance out that shit!

if stems crack after 3 days, you're going too fast.

also, my first cuttings from the past 2 days are significantly darker than they were wen i clipped them....idk if its just me man, but the 2 im cutting now are so much more skunkier, so much more brighter green....i dont know again i was sick and couldnt breathe or smell so...i just dont know....but also, no way they werent done...the first 2 were starting amber trichs and these 2 im cutting as i type this are straight milky....and ive dried a piece and smoked it already and it got me zooted

hahaha thats zew-tid....i really dont follow wat the people in my area say....if so, haze would be piff and high would be blunted....so i wouldnt say it has anything to do with my area....more or less just picked it up somewhere in my life, but id shoot for the manhattan tri state area as for my location

I am am finishing my first grow curing now but what KSR said kind of makes sense was wondering mine smell a little sweet slight skunky but HAY smell is there. had a problem with heat after adding some cfls during the day had to keep closet door closed. this is in a grow box. so had to change to the evening went through a period of high heat. fan leaves fell off early think heat. used micro for trichomes harvested at a good time some 10 to 15 % amber. there was a small bud that fell off the stem after dried smoked and was potent really potent.
