Drying buds in your garage (stealth)

Hello, I'm planning on drying my outdoor crop inside my garage. The garage itself is clean, but tends to have water leaks. I was wondering if i could get away with sealing the garage and running a 6" vortex fan and carbon filter(recirculating the same air) for the 1 week dry time? The quantity of bud is 4-6 oz:joint: and it will be ready the first week of October. I live on the east coast so I'm assuming high humidity, especially in the garage?

P.S. are dehumidifiers necessary for drying this much bud in such a large area?:confused:
I will also post pics of the harvest and drying process.

I'd say you'll be fine just make sure to spread it all out ensuring its not on top of each other cause thats how mold will start but should be fine I find if you have it in either paper bags or ontop of and underneath newspaper works well Im pretty sure with that amount of bud you wont need a dehumidifier hope this helps mate all the best. Cut, trim well, and make sure you HANG dry. You will be fine. Like north said, with only a few oz spread in an entire shed you will be fine w/o a dehumidifier. If you notice the buds are still wet in a few days build a cardboard dry box.

Thanks for the insight quietguy and northside. The garage does tend to get damp when it rains outside, which is what worries me. It is the only place i can have a vortex fan and carbon filter running all week though. This is my first harvest, and as mentioned in the title it is somewhat of a stealth harvest. I dont want the whole house smelling like bud, nor do i want the sound of overpowered in-line duct fan bothering my roommates.

My plan so far is to hang dry in the garage for 3-4 days then transfer them into paper bags or a cardboard box, and bring them in to the basement where the humidity is stable. Would lysol or fabreeze cover the smell of the buds at this point of the process?

-northside i saw a tutorial somewhere on the web that used paper shreds in a paper bag for drying/pre-curing. looked like a sweet deal, but i dont want my smoke to become to harsh.

Checked out both of your grows looks like some bomb bud. From what i hear the first 4 days of harvest are the smelliest (and at this point the bud aroma can be easily covered?). I'm going to take care of all the trim work outdoors, then bring in the "goods" for drying :P Have a good one.

I would hang dry for a few days then put them in brown bags, But leave them in the shed.They will be to smelly. Only put a few buds in each bag. You will need quite a few bags. If they start to get moist after a day or two, hang for a few more days (then bag). Wait till they get decently crispy and then put them in curing jars, and then bring them in the basement. You will probably have to "burp" them the first couple days, which means: If they get too wet take them out and let them dry a bit, after a day or two it should be sufficient to just shake the jar and leave the lid open for like 15-30 a 1 or 2 times a day. Once the buds get to the point where they don't get wet when you leave them in the jar, you wan't to start curing for real. Leave them in the jar sealed w/o opening it for a minimum of 2 weeks. I like a month. A good rule of thumb is the longer the better (potency,smell, & taste) as far as curing goes. Keep in mind there are a lot of factors to consider so all of these times could be shorter or longer for you, your going to have to use your best judgement as well. hope this helps.

Make sure you have odor under control because in most states cops dont need a warrant to search out buildings.
