So it's about that time boys and girls...I think I may cut my plant next week...now I want to hang it in my garage to dry...I have looked at that main thread on how you can harvest it...I was wondering if I can cut it, then hang the WHOLE plant upside down and somehow put a dark plastic garbage bag over the whole plant to dry...good or bad? suggestions

Might cause mold if you wrap in a plastic bag. If you are going to hang the whole plant remove the larger fan leaves first. I find it easier to trim the buds when they are wet though and then just hang the colas out to dry.

I am also going to cut my plant in about a week to dry. This is my very first grow, and have read to cut off the big fan leaves, but what about the smaller leaves that stick out from the buds? Many of them are just covered in trics, should they be left alone? Also is burping in a jar, or a large bag needed if you hang it for a couple of weeks? Thanks.

I trim of the sweet leaf on the buds to make them nice and manicured, some growers leave some of the smaller leaves on the buds though. I use the sweet leaf and trim to make hash. Also like I said trimming your buds wet is much easier than trying to trim dry buds.

Thanks NewGrowth,
Are there any good hash making tuts, that you would recommend? I've searched around on the site a little, maybe I over looked them.

I use bubble bags, I also like to have a supply of butter. After a while though I tend to get lazy and throw a lot of trim away cause bubble hash can be a pain when you have tons of trim. :weed:

So the fan leaves are obviously the leaves that have no growth on them....so I take those off...now with the leaves left especially on the apical meristem...do I try and remove every leaf I can of let them dry to the buds?

Thats the same thing I'm still unsure of. Anyone? And when you manicure it, do you just cut the leaf, or try to get the stem the leaf is on as well?

I remove pretty much every leaf and the ones on the buds I trim flush with the bud. Some growers leave some of the small leaves on the buds and let them dry with them. I think the buds look better more closely manicured and smoke smoother too.

if our plants aren't that big or you've got some big ass cardboard boxes....thats what i use....put it in the rafters and poke the stalks through the side/top of the box and use the flaps as "doors" for turning and alloqing air etc. its probably the easiest way if you're limited or just a little lazy lol.....plastic is your enemy when it comes to all this...

As far as trimming, I manicre them almost to an obsession. I like beautiful trimmed bud with no leaves at all. The trimming is much easier to do wet and it allows for better air flow & circulation. I also use the box method. I use a huge cradboard box. I drill some ventilation holes on 2 opposing sides of the box. I poke holes in the 2 other sides and run string like a clothesline near the top of the box. I then hang the buds (I leave a little handle on the stem while trimming) in the box. I then close the flaps on the box and leave them checking them for dryness every day. I have found that my basement is the best place for me to leave them. It is cool and dry. On another note, the smaller or less dense buds are going to dry out sooner and go into the curing jar before the main colas. Some people leave them in the box until the stems are dry enough to snap. Some people don't want to wait that long. The main thing is that you don't want them too wet when you are curing or you will be inviting a mould problem.

Dont put it in the fridge. There are chemical reactions goin on when letting your buds dry and cure. The cold will not help.ALthoguh cooler is better...

Thanks for the replies, I think I will manicure mine a little further as well. I was concerned that those small leaves would drape over the buds and trap moisture.
