Does anyone know if dual lighting is actually worth the trouble??????

I know you can buy a dual ballast, but say you have both and have a small garden like 3 to 4 would it be worth wiring and setting it all up???

What are the benifits of dual spectrum lighting??

Any thoughts??

its good because the veggie stage uses more of the light that mh bulbs gives then when flowering comes around switch to hps cause more light spectrums are being sucked in bye them. and hps has all light spectrums!!!

OK?
so what is everyone saying that its not worth it??????????

To just switch durning the different stages of growth mh for veg and hps for flower.

Comon i know there is a veteran out there.?.?.?.?.?.?.?.?

I use a 1000w(i ranted how awesome it was when i bought it 3 months ago) SuperBlue by hortilux for my flowering, and it is a dual spectrum bulb. IT is awesome, i have more compact buds, and i have more tricomes per mm than without the MH added. The MH gives off UVB with makes the plant put out more resin to protect the flowers, so it is more like the sun as stated earlier. Id say for your first grow it isnt worth it, but once you go commercial, its way worth it id say.

Dual is always the way to go for me and my friends. You'll see a boost in resin production, and tighter formation of buds since there will be extra light in the grow room. If this sounds good to you then, Period Dot. problem solved.

elite pays to be elite! no grow experience necessary

that said, im not sure that you will want my advice but ill repeat what i said.

have a dual spectrum of light is a better simulation of the sun. nothing competes with the sun!

well twin and cola: my hats off to you then.... wait you said about commercial whats the difference????? If you get more resin and compact buds why wouldnt it be good for a first grow??

What do you mean by commercial?

My buddy has 2 babies out of 7 left.. i know 800 total watts is a shit load for only 2 but if he can get more resin like you and cola said why not especially since the ballast are at hand right??

Loud: sorry didnt mean to offend i am new to the site i thought if you were labled elite you were qualified guess not uh? I have to take back my comment earlier about it not being worth it for a frist grow, i found a place that has a 600watter dual spectrum bulb, thats quite cheaper in the long run than a 1000w, and a 600watter is the most efficient HID bulb. That makes it very worth it for personal grows since 600watts is a more reasonable than 1000ws in the end

A cheap way to add more spectrum without a large investment, id say $40 or less in the end. There are companies that sell basking lights for reptiles and birds, these lights give off about 40%(give or take some) of UVB that the 600 MH would. There is one that i found at PETSMART that is a halogen style floodlamp that has full power at up to 3 feet from the bulb, so add one of these and i bet itll do the job just as well as a dual spectrum, i plan on experimenting with UV rays and growing. There was the thread in the advanced growing forum that is abso-fucking-lutely huge about the whole UV debate, but most would agree UVB is a welcome addition to any room. Just take care to not look at the light, as you may damage your eyes, wear sunglasses(youll look cool) or turn off the UV light when in the room managing your babies.

First off Commercial is growing copious amounts of high grade weed for sale.
Second, in my own opinion a 1000watt lamp is not a good choice for a "first" grow, if you have prior experience, then id say give it a try. A 1000watter can be way too hot and make your room temps soar if you dont have adequate air exchange(either air cooled lamp and room or AC), plus the 1000w bulb isnt that cheap.
Third, if it is a smaller grow, as you say it might be, why get a lamp that covers almost 50ft2(7'x7'). Why not just get a 600watter and save cash and electricity.

Must be miscommunication he isnt using a 1000watt bulb, He is using a 400watt mh with a 400watt hps... which i found out is bettter than a standard conversion dual spectrum bulb.

Uv isnt a joke that shit works ive been researching that an radation..

which im not for sure but i think uv gives off that Purple in color of radation.

IF you look at the way the sunlight hits the earth....

Where the equator gets the highest intensity of light and radation.

And the fact that the most potent buds grow near the equator.

but not only are these strains potent but they produce more nodes per inch and all kinds of grazy facts that i had no idea about.

they sell a super hps bulb but that sucker runs like 200 bucks the won i day did anyway.

O and thanks for helping a youngster/novice out. I guess college is starting to pay off. lol

I've been seeing these special bulbs that have to arcs one hps and one mh it looks cool but its just a bulb, and they cost about 125 -200 bucks its insain, I think just buying a hps ballast and mh seperatly would be cheaper and more funnererer? IDk I'm tired I dont feel like explaining myself or anthing I dont know why I botherd saying anything, passing out asss we speek thud
