Hello all. Once again i cannot thank you all enough for your advice on my last grow.
My current grow is blue mystics, ( nirvana ) the plants are doing very well still babys... I'm looking into trying to get more cola's this time,
I think super cropping is the way to go from what i've read? when do you super crop? veg? flower? any other ideas will be good, I'm also going to
continue growing start to finish with t5's. thanks everyone!

Good luck dubba. Curious, what are you yielding per plant with T5s? Your plants looked a lot better than I would have expected to be honest.
Have you thought about LST methods? I guess you probably don't have the square footage for that eh?

Ive found having a strong rotating fan can LST most of your plants alone. Makes the stems soft a little. I turn the fans off when the lights go out, giving them a chance to heal and straiten up

Id supercrop during veg, give it time to heal in veg. Dont want it working on fixing itself during flower.

If you are using just t5's,add some side lighting if its not covered already. I use these 65 watt actual cfl bulbs you can get at lowes for 15 bucks, and buy a clamp light. I take the reflector off since usually the bulb wont fit unless you do and just hang it from the celing as a nice strong side lighting.

Hi Dubba,
In my recent research on growing I found Nico Escondido's Grow like a pro very informative on how to make the most of your yields.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fT1hry-F_Zg
I hope you glean from it as well as i did. I think the topping method looked best to me. Causing the branches to send off extra buds.
In the video he shows spectacularly grown plants, and you can see where they forced the plant to have more bud sites.
Looking forward to seeing some of your pics of your grow. I am still waiting for my first seeds to come in. Maybe we can trade clones sometime.
I plan to order Trinity, Kushage and Edelweiss in the near future. I want to make sure my first order comes in B4 I make a second order.
Till then
Peace:weed:

Hey Tet, I got almost a QP from the 5 plants, they were only 20-22 inches tall. I think this time im going to grow them taller in veg.
what about pinching the tops? does that just make them more bushy? i noticed these plants are already looking very bushy for there height..
i'll take some pictures later.

Big tradeoff there, imo. I've only ever done it like once myself. I imagine you do get more side action but you are giving up your biggest colas.

That's probably what I would do, but I've never grown with T5s. Oh, here's another thing I found lol
Imagine a lazy susan that can handle a 3 gallon pot, and rotates 1-2 times a week automatically (little 10 degree jumps every few hours). Runs on 3 C batteries. I found 'em on Amazon and I own 8 of them, which I use for plants around the perimeter of my main SOG/LST grow:

Great Idea Tet !! (Are you sure your not a little bit of a Yankee fan?) :-) That is some YANKEE thinkin' there !! :-)

Hi Dubba
What size pots are you using? I heard the bigger the better, which will also help with plant size and larger yield.
I started looking for 30 Gallon pots and they are not at the home center, so i thought i would look at Walmart and Job Lots for large trash cans.
I think i'll start my grow with 20 - 30 gallon size.
Also to get the plants to bush out more FIMing is a method that might be helpful.
Its cutting the primary top bud in half which theoretically makes the plant bush out more.
Just curious, what was your lumen per foot ratio of your previous grow?

30 gallons is way to big for my set up. my tent is only 51.5 x 22.5 x 48.
my lights are t5's 4 bulb 4 foot. 20,000 lumens. I Had a thread on here from my first grow in it, turned out good for flours start to finish.
This time i think ill just let them grow taller before flower

I also am making my grow totally out of fluorescent lighting, and was very pleased to see what you did in your grow.
Today i got stuck on a rabbit trail about air pruning and smart pots and air pots. From what i could gather in the articles,
The pot size was less of a concern than the formation of the root structure.
They showed very large trees grown in containers that looked way undersized for the plant it was supporting. But were amazingly healthy.
I'm gonna try planting some seedlings in pots made of window screening and see how they turn out to start them growing with a more full root structure.
Maybe there is a more comfortable limiting factor to pot size.
Like all other things, Time will tell.
BTW: looking forward to seeing your results again
Peace:weed:

I'm going to try LST on my plants... basicly just bending the plant over & secure it so it can start getting side growth right? ( from what i read )... how long do I keep it bent over for? do you keep doing the process over and over? also I was thinking about supercropping them once they get taller, I might just try 1 plant so I don't screw them all up. I'll get some pictures this weekend.

I am going to try something different with my next crop. I have been doing LST, mainly because my rooms are in the basement and I don't have the vertical space for anything else. But that was before I changed over to all air-cooled lighting. Now that they can grow taller I am going to try free standing with tomato cages.
I also have those motorized plant turners, especially for the ones on the perimeter. I just picked up these other plant supports that are modular; you build around the plant with stakes and cross pieces. I'll use those in the middle.
I will consider cropping as necessary but I have the room to space 'em out a little and get the light down there.

I'm not sure it makes more colas appear, but it gives existing ones better chance to develop.

Since my first crop ( now on my 4th ), I have used tomato cages with very good success. At least ( IMO ) it keeps them somewhat contained in the space that each plant is designed to grow in. I have just seen those turntables in one of the mags, so please keep us/ me updated with the results that you see with them Tet.

As always ... Best of luck :-)

Will do, Bob. I first discovered them on a company's site which apparently doesn't exist anymore. Tried for about a year to contact the company to no avail. Those were solar-powered, which I thought was awesome. The light in the room would run 'em.
I finally found a similar product on Amazon and bought several. They run on 3 "C" batteries however. I am currenly working on a project to make them solar, or at least all run from a single transformer. I got a bunch of stuff from RadioShack (solar panels, connectors, etc.) and also have a drawer full of old electronics chargers. So I'll tinker lol
