Smoke Report- Durban Poison S1 via Authentic Genetics.
The trim was easy enough. Buds were foxtailed but full. Produced well enough. Very subdued nose. What I would describe as woody I suppose. As far as the smoke goes. I'm not a huge fan but it's not bunk at the same time. Not couchlock by any means. More of a spacey forgetful head to it. When I high dosed it became uncomfortable for me to sit still. Not the motivational high I was looking for but one that didn't appreciate me sitting down.
I usually roast 2 bowls from the ol trusty 14 year old bong after work. Very routine for me so that's the benchmark. 2 bowls is good bud. If I smoke only 1 then we have fire on our hands. This DPs1 was 4 bowls. After my ritual cigarette I'd go back for 2 more.
After a few days of this I was frustrated I was having to smoke so much. This is when I high dosed, I'm not sure how many bowls were smoked. When I got where I felt I was satiated thoroughly is when I got the uncomfortable sitting.
Others appreciated it more than I but they didn't get to know it as well as myself. My girlfriend likes it much more than I. She likes to clean the house on it. She comments that she prefers to mix it with others though. A bowl or two of this or that, then a bowl of the Durban.
All in all, I wouldn't grow it for the smoke again. I threw my old mother out early April. She got hammered with foul weather as she went into bloom. I recently cut her as she was a torture test of sorts. Lost a small handful of buds to rot but at the same time I was expecting colas to rot off but they didn't. Also to note, no pollen sacs were observed under all this stress as she went back into veg with almost all buds still intact. Cut shortly thereafter and composted.

What's your best practice when growing out regular seeds? I'm thinking of starting up 4 or 5 of these guys then flipping them 4 to 5 weeks into veg. I've read that starting these guys out straight into 12 hours lighting is idea if your growing out of a tent,

It can definitely help with long flowering strains, although the plant still won't flower until it's sexually mature.

The beans arrived(10 regular Durban Poison Highland). From Greece. Only took about 2 weeks to get here. Won't have room to grow these till it gets a little cooler here in the desert. See ya's in 2023?

I was given some of these seeds, and been trying to figure out the genetics. They say it's a landrace, but I've also heard that "Early Durban" is Skunk x Durban Poison.

They're probably all the same, mass production of these Indica and Durban Poison hybrids. And if your looking for a pure Sativa...these are not it. These will most likely be a better growing experience thanks to the Indica genetics. Who wants to flower for 4 months with a landrace?
