There have been quite a few people on this site that have really, really been helpful. So, I thought I would share a few pics of my little girl on the day I turned on the red lights. Flower stage just started! I think she is looking great!

Yes, that is a cabinet! I have 8 Sun Blaze T5 HO, 2' 6500 k lamps on the sides and a 400 watt my at the top. I have a really nice400 watt red light for that on the way. I got the HiLux grow red light. But it ain't here yet. I had to put 4 red lights in the CFLs for now.

I do have some questions if anyone can help. I am having a heat issue. I have never really been able to turn all my lights on. I know there are a couple of schools of thoughts on ideal temps. One school likes 74 - to about 80... The other school thinks it around 82 - 86. I have been trying to stay below 30 c... 86 degrees and... So far things have gone well. I also know that the strain I am growing likes cooler temps than I can currently achieve. I am considering putting a small AC unit... A spot oiler, in my closet to help reduce temps. If i do.... Those reduce relative humidity. Do I need to get a humidifier too?

In a closet, it's ideal to have a floor level intake fan and a ceiling level exhaust fan. This usually does the trick. I would try this before getting an AC unit. As long as you're keeping the temps below 86 you should be okay. Personally, I like to keep it at 80 or lower.

People often forget that a fan has a nice hot motor running in it,and adding more fans will not really lower temps.adding an intake fan to a cabinet grow isn't a efficient way of cooling.rather run two exhaust fans at the top of yr grow and have two passive intakes at the bottom.just make sure yr ambient temps(outside room temp) is cooler than the cab.

This makes me feel better about how I built my cabinet! : )

starting from rom the bottom up, there are 2 small intake fans in the bottom of the cabinet (the lower two doors in the pic) Then there is a mid sized intake fan at the base of the top section. It is just below the AC duct. And then if you look at the top, you can see where I have the AC duct coming in directly from the register in the ceiling.

Then, I have two large, high volume exhaust fans in the ceiling of the cabinet (on both sides of the 400 watt MH) and they both flow directly into my Oder filter.... The grey Rubbermaid container on top of the cabinet. Then that is directly exhausted into my attic. I am getting a negative suction inside the cabinet. I can feel the door pulling from my fingers just as it closes.

I am not bragging. I am trying to explain what I have so that I can say this.... I think I have your concerns covered, but I still have a heat issue. That is why I think I might need to put the spot cooler in the closet to reduce temps further. She is on a 12/12 cycle now. I am running the lights from 8:00 pm to 8:00 am. With no lights on during the day, I get it into down to 73 - 75, but when the lights are on at night, it runs at 83 - 85.

I'm not sure if you have this sorted or not, but have you got something to cover the cracks on the doors? To stop light getting in/out.

The only reason I ask is because in the picture of the door closed on the first page, you can clearly see the light round the doors. If you're just entering flowering stage, then the light leak could cause more problems to an already unstable hybrid.

Hell yes, looks good, your a smart noob lol. If you are growing in soil id recommend smart pots, I love them and the plants that grow in them look better too, I have like 100 plants so I started buying them whenever, im not rich so I cant just buy everything I want right away, started growing nearly a yr ago and my stuff keeps getting better, I look back and laugh and cry "jk" at the stupid stuff I did and the plants that just didnt do jack shit.

If your not running co2 of some sort I would ask you to do so. It seems to add to a better overall plant, it thickens and strengthens stalks, allows plants to withstand higher temps, and it adds to the amount of trichromes you have in the end.
You can get co2 going for cheap, a diy 5 gal bucket setup is easy.

Then to control your head id recommend a 6 inch inline fan up top in tent in a corner, that way your hood won't touch it if you place in the middle, then a 6 inch down low, use that air to hit the bottom and middle of plants, hook up your co2 line from the bucket and youll have your plants breathing great. Then if you have a aircooled hood you could run your exhaust through the light then out the tent. Tower fans would be great for a grow setup like yours.

Just my ramblings

I have been reading up on CO2... It looks like I can get a good regulator with a timer and volume control for a good price, so I just need a bottle and place to get it filled... (The sticky on CO2 is a great article) the only thing I need to know is how big of a bottle do I need? The grow space in my cabinet is roughly 3.5' x 2' x 4'. The calculator told me how much volume to run...

Seems like a 10 lbs bottle is bigger than I need, but then again, I don't have to mount the bottle inside the cabinet... Just run a hose

I am one week into flower now. There are little baby buds all over her right now! : ) the pics show the height stretch and the close-ups are an attempt to show the early bud development.

See any problems? She looks great to my newbie eyes.

I have not done anything about CO2 yet, but I did just buy a cool little air conditioner for my closet... It's a pretty big closet, my grow cabinet is inside it and it is roughly 4'w x 3'd x 8'h. When I set it up, I think I outsmarted myself. I have central heating and air conditioning... I can't use my cabinet in the winter! (I can easily unhook it from the A/C) My cabinet is air conditioned and my exhaust goes straight into my attic. I still have a minor heat issue, but only because I have to many lights in my cabinet. Right now my temps inside the cabinet are 72ish with the lights off and 83ish when the lights are running.

I just bought a little 8,000btu A/C unit to put in my closet... Hopefully, my temp issue is solved. The A/C unit I bought also has humidity control. I know what the ranges for RH need to be during curing, but what is the ideal setting for a RH % during flower?

Well, I have good news and I have bad news.... The AC I bought is not an AC, it is an evaporative cooler... Water cooled. Running it is driving my humidity levels up to almost 80%. So, I am not getting out of it what I hoped.... However I did buy a new little toy to go with it. A hygrometer...? Is that the right work for a RH meter? : ). It also has a probe on a long wire, which I have going inside my cabinet, so I can now get RH and temp without opening it. The bad part is, I now know that my temps are running at 96 degrees right where the tops of my buds are growing. So I have had to start leaving the doors open when the lights are on to keep the temps down. I was afraid I had overbuilt this cabinet... Now I know for certain that I did. This going to be the only grow I can ever do inside it.

which is kind of okay... I am just going to turn the whole closet into my grow room when this little girl is done. I am putting CO2 on her tonight. My new regulator just came in and I got a 10 lbs bottle, so I am reading up on that now.

So... Having said all of that... How should inset up my CO2? I can still keep the cabinet doors closed when the lights are off. With the doors closed, I was planning on a burst of CO2 every 15 minutes and the calculator (from the CO2 Sticky on RIU) tells me I need to set the volume on 1. But what about when the lights are on and the door is open? Should I bother running it at all?

i will post a few new pics tonight as soon as she wakes up (in about an hour)
