Dwc drip ring water pressure help.

Hello guys. I am new to dwc and trying to test the waters with it and switch from soil. To increase yields.

I’m starting with a 5 gallon bucket and bubbler setup. I also got a 6” drip ring for transplants. (It’s easier for me to start seedlings in soil and then wash the soil off and transplant over. I have difficulty starting in rockwool. But that’s neither here or there.

the main issue I’m having is the water pressure on my pump is too high for my drip ring and instead of it slowly dripping out, it sprays out. How do I fix this? Or can I have it like that and maybe water for a few mins every hour or two?

put a valve inline with the irrigation tubing before the drip ring, partially closing the valve should allow you to modify the pressure. i use this with my hydro halo setup and it works fairly reliably.

You don’t need a pump in the bucket or is this rdwc? Normally just an air stone or two.

Scrap the waterpump. It sounds like you're using some old "bubbleponics" design. If you really want a drip ring, a small air pump and THIS is your meal ticket.

Put a hole in the bottom of the basket for the drip ring.. Read this thread on Waterfarming..

Army if your having trouble starting seeds in rock try this to help. Always drop seeds in the first 14 days of the moon cycle when the moon is increasing. Soak your rock then drop seed in with pointed side up. Put rock under light and 24 to 36 hours later they will be popped. This is exactly what I do only I use root riot plugs. Its all about the moon when it comes to getting seeds to germ. Also try putting the rock cubes in a humidity dome with a seed germination heating pad under the dome. I have 95% succes rate with seeds regardless of age if dropped during the first half of the moons cycle each month. Next period for good success is Nov 14th - 30.

On the pressure you can spool up extra air hose to make it longer and that will drop the pressure. Or buy a cheap air pump on ebay or locally at a pet store like PETSMART thats adjustable.

Could also put a pressure regulator in to keep pressure at desired range.
