Thanks for the info fellas. I was looking into sensizyme and hydroguard but again I'm not entirely sure they'll be needed yet. I want to get as close to perfect as I can for these plants, even on my first grow, so I ordered a TDS meter which should be here in a day or two... not a huge deal since I'm using very very weak nute concentration right now. So far I've always tested my pH and have kept it around 5.6-5.8 as from what I've read that gives the best nutrient uptake in hydroponics.
Just a couple hours ago I got my 250 Watt HPS ballast and my bulbs (MH/HPS). I got the plants under the MH now and WOW.... that fucking bulb is easily 3x the light I had with 6 CFL's. I turned it on and went and balanced the fresh reservoir water and when I came back it slapped me in the face it was so bright, so I'm very happy so far with it.
Here are some pics but they look wavy from the MH light affecting my cell camera. I have a small fan right off to the side, on the box, which is out of camera view. The top of the reservoir isn't getting warm with the fan on it and the temp feels good by the leaves but to be sure the distance is nice I'll be checking on them frequently until I get used to the HID light. My closet will allow my plants to be 2x the height the box allowed and the fiance said she didn't care about them being in there so I'm stoked as hell. They'll be able to get pretty big in there. What do some of you guys do for smell in the more open air grow spaces?
