Early sexing... where to look?

When trying to sex your plants, where on the plant does it usually show sex first? The nodes up top, near the lights, or the nodes down below near the pot? Or is it pretty random?

How tall is your plant? If you have good genetics the 4th or 5th node should show. If you plant is about 12 inches tall, look around the 7th or 8th node.

So, I'm Newbie for sure. First grow. I'm in my 5th week of vegging. I got 5 plants under 2 100W CFL lights, and im growing in soil (MiracleGro...all i can get). The plants are between 8"-9" going on to their 6th and 7th nodes. I've noticed that where the stem and the nodes are meeting there are new leafs appearing, is this an early sign of a male? The plants are very healthy growing everyday now, and a nice green color. The stems are healthy but i would like for them to be a little thicker, even though im not guna let them get bigger then 4 ft. or so. sorry no pics, any help would be much appreciated though

ya man u deff got a female. how long is that grow. mine is only 3 weeks old and it shows signs of a female

if there are small leaves growing on the nodes, it means that it is a female?
