I'm doing ebb and flow with earth plugs and fish tank stone. I have a dilemma. how do I flood the system often enough to keep everything moist, but not cause problems with the earth plugs? I don't want root rot right at the main root trunk, but if I keep the water level below the bottom of the earth plugs, only about an inch of the grow media will ever get wet, the other 3 or so inches will be dry and wasted root space. today I've been thinking. if I break away most of the earth plugs as much as possible, then flood up to an inch below the media surface, it might be ok. should I try doing this before the roots get to big? they're about 3 or 4 weeks old now. they're small enough still, it's not to late. seeking advice first.
