looks good! what is in the pot with big one? little one is so cute. just let it grow, at least it is pretty!
just some reflective insulation from my ebb and flow unit. I thought it would help reflect a little light back up underneath the plant until the canopy is too big

Plants are lookin good man. Same as me, one big one and one little runt haha. Nice job on the LST, those new shoots are gonna spring up like crazy watch!
I thought cloning the top would open up the canopy and those little shoots will take off, right?

covering the top of the soil could prevent it from getting air into it or let moisture out and be bad. all the light in there is so tight she is getting plenty of it underneith!! still looks good

I think with the smart pots, they receive plenty of air throughout the pot. I wont leave them there long.

Didn't take the air pots into consideration. Good point.

Oh, the topping below the third node isn't necessarily a coined method. I just suggested that because it would give you enough to clone, but not butcher your plant too much. Uncle Bens method is to let it grow 5 or 6 nodes, the cut above the second node for 4-6 tops. There is another that let's it grow like 7-8 nodes, and takes the top node only for like 6-8 tops. Don't quote me on that one, but something like that, its the method riddleme suggested in the first 5-10 pages of his balls to the wall thread. Its just something you play with and find the spot you prefer for best growth.

So you gonna top? Where, when?

I may top this weekend somewhere between the 2-3rd or 3-4th node. I'll make a 3/8" cut of the skin at my 45 degree angle cut and dip it in hormone gel. Then I'll place it in my 5.8 pH soaked wool cube for rooting. I hope it works. I'll show ya pics after surgery. I also germinated another bag seed in my garage. I didn't think the special plant would ever do anything. So now I have more than I have room for. I may leave the clone and the new seedling in my grow cab with the other two current plants and just veg a little longer. My big plant is only at 4 1/2" tall and I'm LST'ing the shit out of it. I will have a problem when it's time to flower the big one and the other three (special needs, clone and new seedling) still need veg time. What a conundrum.

They don't need extra veg time. They will do fine with going into 12/12 with the growth they have. I wouldn't put the clone into flower until it has roots of course.

What is your technique on topping SmellyTreez? cut just below the third node from the top?
Pretty much exactly what gumball suggested, I think it was the 3rd or 4th node.. This way your not taking to much from her. You should definitely try it! I bet if you do, you will most likely top every time lol..

of course. here goes nothing
What exactly is going? We discussed so much, I see you with a topped plant right now, rooting a clone, and putting them into flower LOL

I would say to do all that, but leave the cab in veg mode at least a week after. And once the clone roots you can put it in flower.

I read that and worried. You can of course veg longer if you prefer to, but you don't have to veg too much more if you don't want to. Plus the plants are still in veg while 12/12 until you see pre-flowers. So once you flip you have about 2 more weeks of veg.

Basically, don't rush it if you don't want to, they're on your schedule. They grow pretty good in flower too.

Day 25 - it is gorgeous other than those burned leaves. it's so tight and thick with huge fan leaves. I love it. no nutes as of yet. probably start next week with fox farms trio set. Enjoy!

well lets hope they are all ladies. looks real good. the big one does have quiet a few nodes there. you could probably do the top and clone now if you wanted. plus she seems to be having a continuous growth spurt, so she may not even seem stunted by it.

I did it at the fourth I believe, if your not taking a clone just take it @ the second..
Well I tried taking a clone here are the photos.

I think I f'ed up the clone. didn't spray the leaves before I finished so I had to go back and flick some water on it. it's all droopy and looks deathly. No worries it was a nice 45 degree cut and it's toppped. Can't wait to see where it goes now. It was flying. And I do have a new seedling.:leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf:

everything looks good. i might would raise the clone out of the rockwool just a little, put about 3/4 to 1 inch of space between that bottom node and the top of the cube. looks good though. give us a full pic of the topped plant now, side and top view.

Rock on dude... mine went into flower about a week ago (although its been on 12/12 since germ so when I say flower I mean its sexed and the dominant color lighting has changed from 6500 to 2700k)

I have to say mine is super bushy and is prolly as wide as tall lol, MASSIVE fan leaves.

Quit on the cutting/cloning. So I topped my plant and it looks great. I'll have about five or six new tops heading north now. I'm gradually adding an hour all week to the dark time until I hit 12/12 by Saturday. That day I'll convert the lights to mainly 2,700 with a couple 6,500 lamps. So me a vagina!
