EBB & Flow wondering about table height

Hey guys i am trying to get more height outta my room by lowering my table closer to ground my res is a 50 gallon aquarium about 1 foot tall and currently sitting above the res. The prob with this, is sets me about 2 feet starting height from the floor and leaves about 3 1/2 feet of growing space from the light. What my question is can my tray be lower? if my tray's bottom was 6 inches above the bottom of the aquariam with my tray drain 6 inches above the bottom drain on the res. And also the water height of the res would be higher than the tray but the water would come in the bottom would this work?

the res has to be lower then the tray because of presuer.. u can sit it right on top if u want to..as long as it works

as long as it drains well shouldn't be a problem, also take cleaning into consideration
