Look at your bill and see how much they charge per KW/hr. The T5's use minimal electricity, might see an increase of a dollar or so a month. Same with the fans. By the way speaking of the T5's, don't get 2ft T5's I'd get 4ft. I am pretty sure the last 3-6in at both ends of a T5 tube don't light as well as the center. At least in my experiences the plants at the end don't get as much light. Anyways I digress, a 1000watt light uses 1kw per hour. So do the math. If you are charged 10 cents a kw per hour (which is kinda high, I think I pay an avg of 7.9 cents per kw/hr. It differs depending on the time of day), it would cost you $1.20 a day if you run a 1000watt light for 12hrs daily. That same light would cost $1.80 to run 18 hours a day.

I've always ran my ON cycle starting at 7pm and set to go OFF at 7am.I've always known that the power company sticks higher rates to those who use more power during "peak hours" which is often normal business hours. I could never figure out why the majority of people who grow on here and other online forums keep their ON cycle during the day and OFF cycle during the night.

Not only will you save money by keeping your ON cycle during the night and OFF cycle during the day but other major benefits include better temperature management of your grow room. During the day your grow room will be hot from outside temps being warmer especially in the Summer , so keeping your light cycle ON during the day will really make your grow room real HOT.

Also , in the Winter when its colder during the night , your lights ON cycle will keep your grow room warm through the night.

There are benefits of having your on cycle during the day as well. Primarily being able to work on your grow during the day. Tis true you can use green light bulbs and still work in there. But light will leak in when you open the door to go in. Also any little leak will leak light during the day since (depending on your set-up, and location) the area around the grow room will be brighter.

Dont for get about the delivery charges etc. For me a 1000watt light on for 12 costs me around 45-50 dollars a month. but thats with everything. the elec, delivery, taxes, etc... it comes out to be almost 15 cents a kwh. Hope it helps.

I will recieve my first real bill for 2 1000 hps on 12 a day and 2 8 bulb floresence 18/6 one a bun blaze the others the Hps . Plus blower, 3 fan, heater, one dehumid and a portable ac 13k .We got 3 of us living here so figure quite a bit for living. This might not be helpful to you but, im sure someone thats thinking of a big investment it will help. unfortunatly I wont have it I think for a week. Good luck with the grow.

Okay I'm considering getting a 600 watt HPS for flowering only 12/12. Watched some youtube videos of indoor grow op. detection and freaking lol. So I'm researching LED lights not sure if they will handle what I'm planning to do when bloom time comes so... I looked up my energy provider's rates and this is what it says

Rate:
Customer Charge $10.87 per Month
ALL KWH [FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]0.09126 per kwh

What is the formula to figure my increase? Also the ballast itself would use some power need to figure that in and the fans which I'm sure those don't make much of a difference.

I wish i knew dude. But im all about the led , but the problem is I feel that the light is very direct only similar to a flash light. So I decided when the led's drop alot in price i will literally do every usable inch of walls and cieling hell maybe even the floor if therir water proof. But man your talking real cheap on that bill I bet like 35- 55 a month at most, with all the rest of your gear.
