Enclosed Hood w/double ended bulb

Seriously

I've seen moles used as a unit of measurement for daily light output of a grow space. I've delved pretty deep into the world of lighting mostly because I was seeing some shit that scientifically didn't make sense to me. Basically the op wants to know if having a fan by the light will drop the daily light output. Short answer, no.
maybe I am not spelling it correct but check out this guy

DE HPS lamps use nitrogen instead of a vacuum in their glass envelope. This conducts heat. So air cooling a DE HPS bulb will drop the arc tube temperature and cause issues. A DE CMH bulb doesn't use nitrogen it uses a vacuum so you can air cool DE CMH bulbs.

I was going to set the inline fan on low which is a 8 inch and been using humidity/temp sensors. using 55 rh and 77 degrees as benchmark
77 degrees should be warm enough to keep it from dropping too much. If the fan was blasting straight up on it without temp a consideration it could def be a problem depending on situation. You might have to play with the fan a little and when it's kicking on but should be fine.

If you can cool the tent enough I don't see why you can use the DE bulb and an LED light. I currently run 1260W of CMH and 1125W of LED strip lights in a 4x8 tent. I keep the temp steady no problem at 76-78F or 24-26*C . You can get a temp gun and shoot your leaf surface and see if it's gonna be too hot to run in there or not.

I am trying to be as educated as possible so I can understand. How to you run your inline fan and also pump in CO2 without losing all your CO2?

This you can't do. Unless you seal your fixture.

what are the range for leaf temps of the canopy?

Correct. That's in fact what my post you quoted was getting at. But that's why I'm wondering exactly what the setup is.
Ya bad I first started quoting you cuz I thought you were saying wind blows around the light. But then I re read it and deleted what I said. And just didn't unquote you.

quick question, if I spend $300 on hood should I just buy a led for $600 and forget the DE? I was thinking the DE gives us better yields and thicker buds when all other factor are ideal? Also can you explain co2 and how to pump into tent without losing it on the neg air when it runs for either heat or RH

Tents are shit and it will leak CO2. No big deal though just be careful about letting it accumulate in your living space. You can get the ppm up to where they need to be in the tent no problem. Even if you go with LED. You need a way to cool the tent. And also 1 LED is not enough for a 4X8 with CO2. You can only vent your tent at lights off to control RH. If you vent during lights on you will use an insane amount of CO2. You need an air conditioner. That hood is starting to look cheaper all the time eh.

also depends on which LED you are buying. A $600 LED doesn't tell us much.

Thanks for the explanation, now it makes sense! So I need to buy a

HLG 600 Rspec I run two of these in my 4 by 8 and going to add another 4 by 8 tent. Looking to run maybe another one of these HLG 600 Rspec with my DE HIP lamp but Questioning adding the hood. Is the added DE lamp make up the costs of electric and the heat concerns. FYI I run hydroponic system in 13 gallon buckets with air and water recirculate system. Plants are awesome always just learning ways to get bigger and better yields and buds. Another questions I have is the plants are gelatos and thinking about limit 4 plants per 4 by 8 because they need the space. Any ideas besides changing to AF, maybe run six but 8 plants is very tight!

Off the top of of my head, I want to say it’s @JoeBlow5823 that was running a 1k DE in a tent, vented hood made for DE bulbs. Could be thinking of someone else. I’m able to run open wing so I have no reviews on hoods.

dont spend 300$. they are all over craigslist for 100 used

the only way co2 works is in a completely sealed area. im happy with my results without co2
