Some one mentioned to me the use of epsom salt in their compost or soil....So I bought some. Anyone know of what purpose it serves in the growing world and If I should be usingit or not?

epson salt is a source of magnesium which aids in the utilization of light energy and the absorbtion of nutrients

you should probably just mix it in with your nutes and water, rather than placing "x" amount in the soil. just my $.02

I'm working on introducing some new nutrients soon. Cheap too.

I use epsom salt in my soil. Your plants need magnesium, so why not give them a constant supply by putting a little in the pot? You can use garden lime to maintain a good pH in your soil. I mix my soil in batches, and use about 1/4 a cup of epsom salts and a full cup of lime in 12 or so gallons of soil. I grind them up a little so they mix well.
