Evidence of too many Nutes? (Pics)

Greetings!!

First time grower, long time smoker. I've tried to educate myself enough to prevent failure, and so far I still have 4 living, 10 days from seed, plants (Bogglegum). However two of them seemed to be flourishing, while two seem to be growing up like red-headed step children!!

Setup: Stealth Hydro Bubbleponics w/4 Bogglegum from seed.

Medium: Rockwool and Hydroton

Nutes: Using the included, pre measured Nutrients that came with system. (Micro, Grow, Bloom) After each plant was about 4 or 5 days above ground, I added the first half of Micro & Grow. Gave it a day, they seemed fine, so 24 hours later I added the remaining Nutrients.

Temperature/Humidity: I'm in the South, so Temps are a bit warm (Daytime 82-92) (Nighttime 75-82) Humidity mostly has been between 40-50%.

Co2: Being that I am growing warm, you'll notice 3 "poor man's" Co2 generators. I really do believe this helps, can't hurt right??

PH: Stable at 6.2 after Nutes

Lighting: (1)40Watt CFL 6500k + (2)26Watt CFL 6500k (will switch all 3 to 2700k for flowering)

So anywhose, I noticed two of my plants began growing much slower, and even started producing some deformed (even missing) leaves. I added 1/2 gallon of water to thin out the Nutes, waited, didn't see much progress after 2 days, and finally flushed the two deformed plants in plain water for 30 minutes last night. Also dumped and cleaned the entire system, and found LOTS of 'grainy' buildup in the reservoir, all up in the pump, and on the outside of the airline tubing...everywhere.

So I COMPLETELY cleaned every last part of the system, squeaky clean, and set it all back up with clean water and MAYBE 1/4 Micro & 1/4 Grow, for now. It has not been more than 18 hours, and already I can see new growth developing on the previously two red-headed step children. I certainly hope these are signs of progress, but I assume I'll have to wait until I see what condition the new leaves come in at.

But, being a first time grower I wanted to give myself the best chance at saving my plants which is why I'm posting all this information, in the hopes that someone can reassure me I've taken the right steps, point out unseen/potential problems, and suggest future care!

About time for me to shut up, so here are some pics. It's pretty easy to tell the two healthy ones from the two stunted/deformed ones. Notice the "upside down canoe or Hooking leaves". Thanks in Advance for ANY input.

EDIT: You may notice a "missing" leaf on one of the healthier looking plants, that was my own dumbass mistake. I was adjusting the lighting one day and accidentally touched the light to the leaf for too long.

I don't do hydro, but no matter. Those curled down 'rams horn' leaves are a sign of too much N.

Yes, you are over nuting.

What are your reservior temps? Hydro no matter what variant the temps should be around 68F or 20C. This is probably the most important part of any hydroponics, its the lifeline of your plants.

I started worrying about everything else at first, not realizing that important fact. After my res temps were in check everything else fell into place.

Good deal, thanks for the confirmation!

Did not know that...and I'd say my reservoir temps can't be much lower than 78, just given that the average room temp is about 82-86, but I'll definitely look into cooling it down. Good thing is we are moving into the Fall Season so natural temperatures should start to drop soon.

I would measure my nutes by the ppm's not half and whole doses!
Do you check the ppm's with a meter? A little plant like that
might only needs a 1/4 dose. Maybe 150-200 ppm's if that much.
Seedlings they don't need much~

Does your ppm meter have a temp function? If not pet store has aquarium thermometer, if your room is mid 80s your res temp is about that or 4 degrees lower. Make sure the res is insulated (coolers make good reservoirs) or get some insulation at home depot wrap it, try frozen 2ltr pop bottles or 1/2 gallon milk jugs to lower temps.

Higher temps = less root absorption and more chance of rot or other diseases growing in your roots or water. If I can stress "one" thing its not "guessing" on your water variables. Know your PH, temp and PPM and check them regularly to stop any problems before they start.

I am guessing lower your temp in res and other things will fall into place. I mean you can fudge a little but not 10-12 degrees, and you need to aerate the shit outta that water.

Oh and 6.2 is retarded high for hydro. You need to be 5.7-5.9 max. you can google the ph absorption table for soil and hydro to breakdown what is absorbed where.

Sweetness! I actually do NOT have a PPM meter, and obviously want to go get one now...places that sell them??

PH will be coming down to 5.7, and I'll work on cooling off the reservoir as best I can.

Yea I'm positive I put too many Nutes in too early.
