seems like true bipartisan politics, the deal sucks, no one is happy, and there will be numerous legal challenges...
I would have rather gone into default, let the republicans own it, and then minted the coin.
Now i feel like Biden just whored us all out a little, to save his poll numbers.
yeah, i know default would have been incredibly harmful, but this deal ain't no fucking favor to the American people.

should i feel bad that i share an opinion with a miserable cocksucker like chip roy? even if we share the opinion for vastly different reasons?
I feel like it's a betrayal of the values of the democratic party, that they'll use the window of permitting to further rape the environment, that a lot of poor people are about to be shit on, and Biden is holding the toilet paper for the republicans this time.

Mrs. Feinstein is a dedicated public servant with a distinguished career....it's time to retire from that career in dignity, and not give our political opponents ammunition that they will use to smear her fine record.
It becomes increasingly obvious that she is no longer fit for the position, which is too important to leave in the hands of someone not up to the job any longer.

Don't know how she can't step aside, reminds me of Ruth B Ginsberg, there'd be one less arch con. on the bench now,and that seat would go a long way to reduce the far right majority that is muscling thru changes a maj. of Americans despise.

It's Joe's job to run the country and he made the best deal he could to avoid trouble and he had expert advice while making the deal. Maybe he could have done better but we and the pundits are in no position to judge at this point. I believe the republicans will be facing a shit storm by the next election and the democrats might be able to win enough to make some meaningful changes. Trump going down in flames in the middle of the primaries and 24 elections should help.

What will the large maga base do if Donald is tried and convicted before the election? Depending on the reaction of his hardcore fans, it could be a wipeout for the GOP. If he loses the nomination, runs as a bull moose and is free to speak out about the republicans being RINOs and sellouts what will they do? Or if he is convicted, is in prison and wins the GOP nomination. What would be the worst possible scenario for the republicans?

It’s consensus politics, at least. The pain is spread across both parties. When everyone is complaining, that’s a fair sign that a balance has been achieved.

Also, Biden’s numbers are awful (because Americans are stupid). I doubt that’s his main motive.

Not with republicans, if he wasn't facing a mountain of legal shit, he would be a shoe in for their nomination and might even win it while on trial or even in prison. If he loses the nomination and turns on the republicans, they will be screwed too.

BREAKING: Trump is hit with devastating news as a new FOX News poll of likely 2024 voters finds that a whopping 56 percent of national voters say that Trump lacks the necessary “mental soundness” to serve as president of the United States. But it gets even worse for Trump… A whopping 55% of voters also say that he lacks the “judgment” to be “effective” in the Oval Office — and that he is “corrupt.” This is brutal news for Trump because, in order to win in 2024, he needs to make up the seven million votes that Biden “shellacked” him by — which will be a nearly impossible feat for someone who voters think so little of.

No, and he's always going to be a much better choice than trump for anything....But i was really hoping for a semi-cataclysmic showdown with the far right freak patrol. It's way past time someone ground their faces into the dirt real good. Fucking gaetz just said it out loud, America is a hostage to the republican party...

The unfreedom caucus did get taken down a notch imo. And MosCarthy’s brand took a big hit. Getting Pedobear to blurt the truth is a win. That’ll come back in a year to bite R candidates on the bottom.

I hear ya…BUT…look at what this has done to Kevin’s grip on power: he OWES Joe…he knows it, Joe knows it, the GOOP mass in the House knows it. The *deal* isn’t everything I’d like it to be (clean bill, or scuttle this nonsense for good)…but as Joe mentioned after the fact, ‘we could have done the same deal thru the regular process’ (salt in the wounds).

FAI&P, BIDEN won - and McCarthy *lost*: weakest speaker in 100 years is weaker yet, and in public debt to his punching bag, and walked away with virtually nothing

Personally, I *love* “Sleepy Joe” jukin’ Kevin out of his socks. I’ll happily let Joe soften them up for a while before delivering the final whack.

Suddenly laughing my ass off at the spectacle of TG & Joe in a debate *now*…*that* would be a show worth paying for

I’ve watched “conservatives” play ‘tanglefoot’ w/ the rest of us for decades…and here’s Joe, beating the Unruly House of Kevin at it IN PUBLIC. Really gotta love it - ‘cause THEY aren’t loving it AT ALL

Kevin might be fighting for his speakership soon enough when one of the morons moves to vote him out, then the republicans will be in a real pickle because nobody could replace him except Trump himself! o_O The speaker need not be an elected member of the house and Trump could wreck it from the inside because none of them would dare to defy him! Someone should put the bug in Trump's ear about it, Kevin's house is useless anyway, might as well make them lick Trump's arse one more time. Only he can solve it, when he shows up for work! The democrats could ride the fucker like a horse and easily manipulate him into doing all kinds of stupid shit. Just calling him stupid would get quite the reaction since he's a moron who tries to hide the obvious fact that he's an idiot and know nothing.

This probably ought to be in the BIDEN thread, but…

Joe *continues* to overperform; he is a seasoned legislator, negotiator & debate moderator. I absolutely did not support him in the primaries, because I’d watched him run for president several times before, and he’s much more competent than he is charismatic (except 1-on-1 apparently); given the field, I figured he stood no chance this time. I never figured he’d be a *bad* president, I just figured he couldn’t win.

Since then, he has impressed me over and over, in ways I never expected to see from him, and I am NOT sorry he’s our president.

Result is, Joe has earned my full-throated support, based in actual respect for what he has done in office. If it’s true that a first term is an audition for the second term, he has earned the job and my confidence already.

Despite all the screaming & innuendo, there seems to be nothing at all behind the accusations of ‘BIDEN family corruption’ except the screaming & innuendo. There is *this* loose hard drive, a driveless laptop, and RUDY GIULIANI’s story about the relationship between the two of them. There’s also forensic & security opinions of that story & those mechanisms.

If there’s evidence of Joe’s crime, it should be investigated & charges brought if warranted. Like, the mountains of evidence of TG’ crimes. Until then, Biden’s a better executive sound asleep than TG was on the best day of his life, and I’ll keep him, kthx

(how is it that people don’t see that TG’s the boss from hell all the other hell bosses want to be just like? Shitty bosses are *endemic*, how could so many people never have had one?)

The idea was funny for awhile but that’s worn off.

Makes me wonder…yeah, a simple majority = quorum, but it should be possible to game that: GOOP has been an agenda-driven asshole every time they’ve gained a majority in either house & have worked up ways to fuck things ups as the minority party, so tit-for-tat, I say: those cats weaponized the congressional majorities 20+ years ago.

How about (in the hideous event that TG could become speaker) Dems strip down to one Rep in the chamber, enough to watch the exits, & call for quorum EVERY TIME a GOOPer leaves the floor. GOOP majority is razor-thin. Slow-walk; disrupt; rules-lawyer; wind the MF up as tight as possible & keep him there & use the shitty tea-party tricks to keep him nailed in place - ranting, fuming, incompetent, hate-filled rage-baby that he is, it’ll be GREAT TV…and a needed emetic for some.

The first week could cut his remaining base support in half

Trump would destroy them if he got the job and would destroy them if he tried and didn't. It would be a fucking nightmare for them, he wouldn't show up most of the time and would be attacking his members all the time. The democrats could play him like a fish since he's so fucking stupid and thin skinned. He will be on trial or in court much of the time and in prison or a DC jail before too long and trying to get him to resign from the speakership would be like trying to impeach him as president! If someone told him, it would make it harder to prosecute him then he would go for it in an instant. He is only going for the presidency because he sees it as his only way to avoid prosecution and doing time, but that won't work in NY or even Georgia even if he were POTUS again.

Joe stands his best chance at a second term running against Trump, but Trump fucked up so badly and is so fucking stupid that he might not make it to the republican primaries much less the election before ending up in jail or prison. Even if he is in prison the GOP base is stupid and fanatical enough to make him the nominee anyway. If he doesn't win the nomination, he walks his base out of the party and does a bull moose run for POTUS while endorsing a bunch of losers as independents for the house and senate.
