Ok, so getting prepared for my first grow. Taking awhile, have to get bit by bit as I'm on a limited income. I plan on using 3 nutrients, for a small (at first), CFL grow.

Nutrients:
Grow Big
Tiger Bloom
Big Bloom

I figure flushing is to flush all the nutrients out, but can someone explain a little further?? Just something thats been on my mind.

From what i think i've learned...flushing is taking ph balanced water and adding it to plant in a 3:1 ratio...meaning if u have a 1 gallon pot, flush 3 gallons through...I could be wrong tho!

^^^ And speaking of that there is a thread from yesterday about not flushing, it actually changed my mind about flushing. =)

That is very helpful, thank you. Was happy to see 4 replies, but yours was the only helpful. Thanks :D +Rep

the search feature is great. there are many discussions on flushing.
I did search thanks, couldn't find the answers I was hoping for.

CMT your link leads nowhere!! LOL!! AC, no problem! Personally, I'd use my best judgement with flushing....if you have a 3-5 gallon pot, that ratio seems a bit tedious!! You certainly wouldn't wanna stand there and run 15 gallons of water thru a 5 gallon pot! That would suuuuuck!! I'll be keeping my eye out for your 1st grow journal. Good luck to you and happy growing!! :blsmoke:

Another NON-flusher here...I grow organic now but have never subscribed to any flushing .....my medicating material is always tasty......

Well if you have been using nutrients OTHER than organic soil than you should flush. You guys have never smoked a joint of someones stash and it wouldn't stay lit? Or the ash is a horrible black color? That is why you flush your buds . You only gotta do it in the end and it makes the final product way better.

If you are using a 5 gal bucket then just add plain water till your pot is heavy , i wouldn't run 15 gal through 5 gal of soil IMO.

Flush once every few weeks to remove salt buildup from chemical nutes . It's also said to wash out plant waste out of the medium also .And if your having PH problems it returns the medium back to the proper PH . I have seen the 3to 1ratio but that is alot of water that goes to waste and it takes forever . A way to use less water is to fill a container larger than your pot and dunk it in the water then drain and repeat a few times . This is also a good time to prevenative spray fungicide/miticide products . She will think it's raining like in nature and love it.

I agree, i think i will try both flushing methods, running water maybe through a pot, and dunking mentioned below. Hope to have seeds ordered by the end of January. Thanks, appreciate it!

Will be trying this out.

Will keep you both posted towards the end of the month. I consider my questions to flushing answered. :)
