Ez dwc- 2" netpots- no media- no mess

I've had a few requests to show some pics on dwc with no media. This is the easiest and cheapest way to go. Cost of netpot and collar is 13¢ and never anything to wash or spill. Have you ever stepped on a piece of hydration? Shit hurts. As for measuring and adjusting i just lift up airstone netpot on side of lid and lower my probe. To adjust just add needed and replace netpot, tilt bucket on edge and it is easy to get res to swirl by rocking the bucket. The line is a pull to length twist tie from lowes and i just pop a small hole in the rib of the bucket the handle mounts in to anchor to. To replace res just release twist ties on bucket edge, remove lid and place in new bucket.

Haha yea especially barefoot. I got my buckets at Lowes and I use the same setup except i have 5.5" netpots that are filled with hydrotin and I use it because i have them in flood trays for veg then pick up the net pots and place them in the buckets for flowering.

I have found my shit grows faster with no media in DWC because the roots don't have to push through a big ass basket of rocks.

It has been years since i used an actual media. This way it can go from aero clone and veg to aero flower or dwc flower using the same netpots.

Thanks man for showing those pics. After you suggested it to me awhile ago I decided to give it a go. So much easier and cleaner.

Hey just wondering how full you fill your dwc buckets? Do fill them all the way or leave an inch or two below the stem/roots?

I fill it to the 5gal mark on the bucket.

hmm ok, thanks for the info. The reason I ask is because I am having some issues in my RDWC that I am trying to iron out. RDWC is apparently a lot more touchy than DWC. I almost want to revert back to aero, but I have a bit of money invested with the new system so I am going to try and get it ironed out.

Ya know, I really never understood the big deal on rdwc. It always seemed like a shitload more hassle, and I'm all about simple.

I have never run rdwc, but the appeal to me is only having to maintain a single res. You know the individual buckets are a lot of work once you have more than like 4.

And that's something else I don't get, how much work is it actually? I changed 4 buckets last night, it took less than 15 mins to mix new nutes and transfer the plants along with filling one of my 50gal aero res's. When I run 6 or more buckets in will mix a big batch of nutes in a res then fill buckets using a pump.

It takes me a good hour to change 6 buckets and at least 20 min a day swapping ice bottles, checking/adjusting ph, and general maintanance.

When i change my buckets, just the act of draining 30 gallons of water from my tap alone takes a good 10-12 minutes.

With a larger volume of water the system is more stable and you can change your res less. This is all basic shit you already know. If you still can't understand the draw to recirculating with a single res... dunno what to tell you.

I understand it perfectly, I just don't understand why do it.

For me the attraction is automation.

How's that automation doing for you if it makes you work harder? Lol.

Rdwc is by no means more work than several Dwc buckets. One res that's it really, if set up right you wouldn't have to do anything for at least a week,,, except watch the plants grow.

yah thats what I thought too, the reservoir is a lot more stable and easier to balance as well with more water... the system is a little bit easier to clean as well as you can leave most everything assembled while you clean it. Time will tell how well it produces, but it seems very touchy about environmental conditions so far.

Oh ok,,,,,, why? Makes you look ignorant.

perlite and a dash of coco for me. clone in rapid rooters, transfer to perlite and coco in solo cups, then straight into 6" net pots with the same nutrients.

I keep them in a shallow tote and basically do a flood drain for the first week or so after transfer to the net pots, then I select the best plants to put in my buckets.

many ways to skin a horse.. but fuck hydroton.
