Failsafe method of germination for dwc?

But when they are just sprouts sitting in a dwc you can’t use strong lights, so you just use your typical dual 30 watt CFL?
Yes I'd also like to know this. I'm using 2x240w LED. Can I just turn them down to their lowest? Or mybe just use one?

I definitely don't want to be buying a new light just for propagation.

This is something I was wondering - do the roots already have to be long enough to touch the water before I place them in their pots, or will they somehow find their way through the dry hydroton? :S
The roots will definitely search for water. Like suggested above, top feed until the roots reach the bottom of the net pot.
When i did dwc, I'd leave an inch between the water and the bottom of the net pot. The airstones pushes water to the top and when the bubbles reach the top, they pop and water hits the bottom of the net pot.
I think that inch gap in dwc is crucial but some people have their own ways of doing everything. Whatever works really. Trial and error lol

Can I just top feed using a jug? I know there are fancy methods of top feeding but I can literally just add water/nutes right?

I use a spray bottle with very very small bits of calmag until it establishes itself in whatever medium im using.
You could use whatever you wanted as long as you don't pour enough weight that'd cause harm to the seedling.
I also put little sandwich baggies over the solo to help with humidity and with that i spray inside the bag once before i put it back on the cup
