Fan into ducting into filter

I do not have enough room in the tent for the filter, it was bulging the side of tent out so I took the filter out and put it on top of the tent with the ducting going into it. Previously I had the filter going into the fan and then ducting going out the top hole in the tent.

The fan is still inside the tent so the air has to go thru a foot or two of tubing before it hits the filter. I guess this will not work as pressure is too low after going thru the tubing?

I have no plants in there right now so no way to smell test my set up. I do not want the fan outside the tent as it will be louder. I guess I can put the fan outside and plug it into the filter if this other way will simply not work right.

I have my fan exhausting into a filter outside the tent and it works just fine. But I'm using a DIY bucket filter so I didn't have much choice about using it outside of the tent.

Why can't you mount your filter at the top of your tent?
