Fans for tents

I have had good performance from the Sun Leaves (brand) "Wind Tunnel" in-line fans and "Dura-Breeze" clip-on fans. I do have to clean and oil the small clip on fans every run, but they have lasted me over 10 years now. The in-line fans have been maintenance-free and are the quietest ones because the housing is high impact plastic instead of metal. They are pricey, though.

Oh...and the AC Infinity oscillating fan is nice, too....also about twice the cost of the Sun Leaves ones.

They're hit or miss, regardless of brand. I've used them all. Some last a long time, some crap out quickly. You hit the nail on the head with "cheap and replaceable".
I agree whole heartedly with this statement. Get 3 of whatever is on the best sale for like $10 one will crap out in the middle of your first bloom and one will run 5 years straight

In your experience, what kind of oil is optimal for the clip on fans?

I use Supco (brand) Zoom Spout oil that's made especially for fans and high speed electric motors, but 3-in-1 oil also works. Sometimes, if the fans have been sitting around for awhile, they freeze up, in which case you pull off the plastic blade assembly and help start the motor spindle to move, manually, until it gets going, then just apply a small drop of the oil onto the end of the spinning shaft to allow the oil to penetrate. Usually, after just a few seconds, the motor will spin freely. You can also remove the one screw that holds the motor housing and apply a drop to the opposite end of the spindle shaft, too. I usually run them non-stop once I start the grow.

The big thing for me is the clip. The Hurricane fans are not designed for tents and don't clip well to the pole and push against the sides of the tent. The AC Infinity fans are a much better design. Yeah they cost more but at my age I have little patience for aggravating shit.

YMMV

The ac infinity fans have such shitty reviews on Amazon..... has nobody here had a failure? And what the fuck is up with not being able to run continuously, that's true? If so they sound like they're not for me.

PC fans sounding better all the time.

Mine did, had sparks jump out of it when I unclipped it from the pole to check why it wasn't spinning.

I use PC fans (140mm) ,some attached to a frame in banks of 3/4 and singles hanging throughout the tent, only .25 watts per fan and they can be run through a cheap speed control. Certainly works in my small scale setups 1.2m(4'x4') tent. They seem less inclined to " go on fire" than the clip on variety.
I use some PC fans. It seems oscillating fans are most the most unreliable.

I've thought about these, blowing across and under the canopy.

4.7 out of 5 is shitty? It's their oscillating fans that shouldn't run continuously. I'm ordering one of the non-oscillating.

Every fan I've every bought eventually takes a shit on me. Running 24/7, 365 days will take a toll on any fan, any brand.
36" tower fans in the tents and 16" wall mounted hurricane fans that oscillate in a figure 8 in the sealed room. Routinely clean them and give a squirt of WD40. That's all you can do and hope for the best.

Sorting thru the reviews most of the 5 star reviews praise the packaging and delivery time. I make my purchases based on the bottom 50% of ratings, if it's all "not enough tape on the box" or "said 2 day delivery, took 5 days" I'd still buy.

But a bulk of the lower star ratings go.... "used this for 1 month and it died"..... "third one to die in 2 months"...blah blah blah

There seems to be a major problem with the reliability of that product. I was really wanting to like it, I think brushless is the way of the future. But it seems like they've missed the mark.

Sucks because I'd pay extra for something that would work reliability, safely and last.
