Fat Marty - clone only strain

This is a plant I grew from stress seed from another plant that could be about 10 different things.

Whatever it is it is some bad ass weed.
It's Mom is one of the prettiest purple plants you ever saw - purple trichomes and stuff.
Anyway Mom is back where she originated from, and getting dusted with loompa's Headband.

So I had a bunch of pics of this one; but lost them and so about all got to show now is some finish shots of Fat Marty.

I am presently using some way-back-machine Rapid-Gro Bloom along with a shot of Instant Bloom from Schultz so far.
I also religiously use Bonide Root-n-Grow when transplanting.

Water pH is generally around 6.3, and I am using Pro-Mix soilless for medium.

I have only 4 foot grow ceiling to bottom of 1000w MH enclosure glass.
I use 3500k MH because it's what I learned with and it works for me.

The HID lamp is surrounded by about 5 or 6 hundred real watts of CFL's in the 2700k color.
Room is tidy at 4' x 5'. I can only have 12 plants; so I made it small on purpose so I wouldn't be tempted.

I gave clone of this one to my friend to hit it with Deep Chunk to see if it can be beefed up some and grow tighter buds.
I also hit it with PT-13, (Hazeman Seeds Pine Tar x G-13 BX2), and have started one seed of the hybrid so far.

I will add the Fat Marty hybrid to this journal in the near future.
With any luck we got the purple people eater strain. lol

This is hybrid test of Hazeman Seeds PT-13 (Pine Tar x G-13 BX2) male x Fat Marty female.

10 days since planting the first seed:

Fat leaves to start off.
I like Fat leaves.

Very Fat Leaves!

Reminds me of FM clone when she was born.

pt13-fm-veg17.jpg

This PT-13 x FM seedling is 17 days old and about 2-1/2" tall.
I just transplanted this afternoon.
I'm thinking of sticking it in at 30 days veg.

More later...

A couple of updates to Fat Marty clone project:
Here is PT-13 x FM at 22 days veg:
pt13-fm-veg22-t.jpgpt13-fm-veg22-s.jpg

And at 32 days veg when I flipped it to bloom:
pt13-fm-veg32-t.jpgpt13-fm-veg32-s.jpg

Into bloom and 9 days later I find it to be a male:
pt13-fm-09-t.jpg

He is stout though and has decent node spacing.
So I am going to use him to breed my two kush strains to see what I can get out it.
I will also cross back to Fat Marty Mom while I am at it.

Because females are clones they will be ready for seeding in two weeks or so while the male is ready to spray.
Here are the females:

Fat Marty Mom, (revegged):

Grand Daddy Purps - Ken's Cut:

Purple Kush - Las Vegas Cut:

I am crossing back to Fat Marty Mom just because with no real plan or intent besides see what I get.
I am crossing to the two kush strains in an effort to strengthen stems and spread nodes somewhat.
Also I want to have my gentics from these in seed form, and this is probably as good a cross as any.

So we are now 3 days into bloom for the females and 9 days for the male and we hope for medical gold.
The two Kush strains are my main medicine - I get high and have fun with others -
but the Kush kills my pain and opens my airways like nothing else.
Fat Marty Mom also is a very good pain killer - it's also a VERY frosty bud producer - this could be good man.

Here's a cool shot of Dad @12 days bloom:

pt13-fm-12-t.jpg
Dad is ((Pine-Tar x Purple Rhino) x G-13 BX2) MALE X Fat Marty FEMALE.
Stretch on Dad is probably 150% so far, and his stems are thick all the way to the top.
The leaves are staying as broad as when in veg; I like big leaves man.

I guess I lost the picture I had of Fat Marty when she was born; but her fan leaves started out as wide as a pack of Kools.
Dad here is showing about two thirds or so of a pack wide.

Thanks for the encouragement and I will definately follow up with this one.
I'm having fun with this.
I have wanted to get my kush genes into something decent to preserve them; but it took awhile for all the stars to align just right.

Here's a pic of Dad from the top:
pt13-fm-14-t.jpg
A couple sacs on the main stem look like they will open in the next few days.
I think I'm about a week out to get enough seeds for my needs from 3 females.
Generally this sort of plant sprays pollen for about three weeks.

One thing I learned making seeds is that you don't have to expose all of the pistils;
so if you are prudent you will only get seeds from the early growth in bloom.
The rest will come out seed free as long as the male is removed on time.

The hairs on the female plant are the pistils which act as conduits for the pollen to the calyx.
During bloom cycle you will see thousands of hairs grow out in succession on a healthy plant;
only those hairs pollenated will ultimately make seeds.

The pollen itself is only viable for a few days at most unless packaged for preservation.
So the stuff that is flying around the room has a limited shelf life.
I hope this helps explain the process for those unfamiliar.

I found the first post of my old thread with some pics when I made the seeds for the Dad I am using for this project:
fm-bt-0.jpg
Fat Marty Big - Tall - Male PT-13 in foreground.
I dropped 'Tall" because it could not stand with 'Big"; but I do have those seeds I would like to see someone grow outdoors.
I got so much going I don't see myself ever testing those. Still there is a whole lot of purple coloring potential in them.
Eh, whatever huh? This thread is about the remaining clone's offspring.

Update on status of pollination: Dad has not opened up noticeably as of yet, and for this I am happy.
I am a week behind the Male in bloom cycle for Females: I need about another week of pistil development on Fems before dusting them proper.
I only want a hundred or two of seeds from these: these are not meant for anything but my own experiment.
So I don't need, or want, full on seeding of these plants.
My limited experience shows that new growth after dusting is pretty much unaffected by the early pollination of lower stuff.

I'm sure the product takes a hit from even limited seeding; but I am the customer and so far I can live with the smoke I'm getting off my seeded plants.

Hey all.
The PT13-FM, which I am renaming Purple Marty, grew so tall so fast I had to act before it grew threw the light.
So I did the basic shake the tree thing and just let it fly.

Here is the plant group 9 days after I flipped Purple Marty to bloom:
pt13-fm-09-seed-group.jpg

That's Purple Marty Dad in the foreground.
In the rear right to left is Fat Marty, Grand Daddy Purps, and Purple Kush.

Here is Purple Marty Dad 8 days later:
pt13-fm-17-t.jpg

A day or two later I came home from work and it was past the light fixture.
I had pulled it to the side to keep it out of lamps.
Male plants are really touchy sometimes, and they don't take to LST well at all for me.
You can sometimes bend them down slightly and the top will just fall over.

So I dusted the females about 10 days after flipping them to bloom.
Seeing as all three females were clones of older plants they had plenty of pistils ready to accept pollen already.

Them I killed Dad. I wish I had room to save stuff like that; but I do have a bunch of seeds of that strain...

So I'm 3 weeks into bloom for the females and even though they didn't light for first portion of light cycle they look healthy.
I guess I got them into the real bloom room a week ago; so first 2 weeks under flouros.

Purple Kush - Las Vegas Cut and Grand Daddy Purps - Kens Cut:
pk-lvc-21-gdp-kc-21.jpg

I've got between 4 and 9 weeks to go.
GDP and PK both usually finish before 8 weeks;
I think I took FM to nine last time.

Thanks for all the encouragement - so far everything looks good.
The offspring from these seeds should be some fun pheno hunting.

Also riu user gladstoned is doing a grow of Purple Martys he just started.
He should have something for us to look at soon in his journal too.
