I have no idea what you were saying there...I'm not familiar with doing stuff like that. Prob why I'm not looking for ways to get find out if it does or doesn't work. I don't want to scare anyone, I just think its not very well known ability that is used. I had no idea before I got here. I'd rather just not take any chances. I see waaaaay too many fishing expeditions here that are blatant grabs for someone's info. I'm very skeptical person anyhow tho.
fair enough. better safe than sorry. if you are curious, here's what I get from a photo directly off my phone vs an image from the site (tent pic from above):

That looks like a pretty handy tool. I don't think most of us growers know what's exactly goin on in there but there is a lot of smart ass people here lol. I couldn't imagine having to check each pic before I posted it. I would forget things. I smoke a lot of weed :bigjoint:

Turn off the geotagging for your camera and photo album and run a VPN. If you want extra security use a Tor browser too. If you are doing these things you shouldn't have too much to worry about
Lol damn dude that's way over my head. This is exactly my point tho. A lot of people that come here have NO IDEA how that stuff works. They might need to post pics of a sick plant that they desperately need help with. Or get suckered into posting pics for no reason other than someone asking for it. I think a lot of LEOs know this and ask people to post shit. I find it very suspicious when new members do this sort of thing. I've seen 2 "contests" the past 2 nights that sure look like info fishing. They get deleted in the AM but it only takes one unsuspecting person to post the wrong pic.

If was looking to buy drugs on the dark web I'd for sure find out how this process works. I'm just buyin seeds for good ole legal pot.

Interesting light configuration. Are those T8s on the top?
Top light is a Timber 400watt vero29 kit
I built into a air cooled hood

Then the tube light is a SolarCure uv light

The bar lights are citizen 1212s 240 watts a piece.

They are dimmed down obviously. I was running the bar lights up high and doing a scrog.
But this is the second grow with them down low. Last plants had nice mature buds right to the stump

Hey I like the idea of overpowered components so you can run them at lower power levels. Should give more life to the equipment as well.

Ah ok those are UVs. I didn't know they came in tubes like that. I've been debating on something like that for my veg tent. I like the idea of surrounding with lights.

Was debating on running 4ft T5s on all my tent poles along the bottom/sides of the tent. I don't think it will be close enuf to smaller plants tho unless I lined them against the walls real close.

I have thought about hanging then vertically in the corners. May do a run like that eventually. Just need to have a taller plant maybe.

I was told this by a long time member. I also read where Sunni confirmed this in a thread to another member. After that I asked Sunni to delete my pics and gave the same reason why. He did not correct me to say that I was wrong. I have no idea where that thread was as it was months ago.
Ok first sunni is a she and a gorgeous one at that. Next as long as you turn off Location data in your phone or camera you're good, finally do you really think LEO is hunting for the small growers that post here?

have you verified this? I'm pretty sure I checked this out when I first joined, and the exif data was wiped. at least the images that are displayed in posts. I'm sure there's some server cache file with the raw post data before it's been converted but that shoukd get wiped out in server deploys/reboots.
Yup xenforo software removes it on upload has been my experience. I'd still turn off location data to survive a subpoena in case it's stored on their servers but I'm paranoid.

Last run in the 4X4 Fusion Hut (better tent in the not so distance future maybe) under Mars Hydro TS3000. In a week my Banana Spliff are going in, even leaving the boys in I don't care.
Back left, Genghis Khan Brain pepper, CK Blueberry(last clone), row in front from left Mango Thai (dark pheno), my keeper cut Cake N Chem from GPS, Canuk Blueberry(last clone).
Bottom right my keeper 7-Pot Brain Red variety. Insanely productive. Insanely hot peppers.

The 4x4 will be off for the summer months it just gets too hot.

Well first idk that but that's irrelevant. 2nd not everyone knows how to do that or even that you should. These are points I'm trying to make so that if anyone reads this, it will make sense. Lastly, Yes I do think that. Its easy pickins for the exact people I'm talkin about. Never underestimate the pettiness of an LEO.

if your using an iphone you go settings -> privacy -> location services scroll down to the camera app and select never. no more exif data in your photos. if your on a jailbroken iphone you could also turn that setting on and spoof your gps location for that particular camera app and itll put fake exif data of your choosing.

edit: as far as security goes i personally would not be uploading my own images with real exif data to an unknown server/website. the website that removes the exif data for you let me ask you this question whats preventing the owner of that site from cacheing all those uploads with the exif data befor it removes it for you?

Omg how dare you guys freak me out with all this location talk. I've been fumbling around with my phone and pics only to realize mine is off LOL. This is good stuff for old people, mmkay... I don't think anyone here is in any danger, regardless. The feds wouldn't waste time with 4x4 tent growers, only some creepy Southern Sheriff would, and anyway, there is no way to know who has a medical card. If there is a medical law in your state, I'm pretty sure a geotag'd photo doesn't constitute probable cause for a search and no way a judge would grant a warrant based on that. Better safe than sorry though! Never open your door to the cops unless they have a warrant!! So many poor souls sold themselves down the river doing that one dumb thing.

This is the point I'm trying to get across. No, the feds aren't looking to bust 4x4 growers. That's insane. But a lowly sheriff with nothin to do that needs to make some headlines cause he's an arrogant prick just might. Hell even pick up the phone to a neighboring county. Who the fuck knows? Its better to have the info and make logical decisions based off that instead of just thinking, "oh that's crazy talk." They ain't gonna get me. For what?? Keep thinkin that. Medical cards don't matter. They want INFO.

Back in the late 90s there was a hydro shop in CA that people used to go to all the time. Well the local sheriff would sit in the parking lot and run plates of the customers that went inside. Then they get their personal info and watch the house. Go to their house at night and search the trash on the street for anything they could find. Was it legal?? Fuck no!! They did it anyways with no warrant and they busted people doing it. Those had to use their hard earned money in court with lawyers to prove it was unlawful. I knew a guy personally that it happened to.

So what I'm trying to say is watch yourselves. This site isn't protecting or looking out for you. We need to do that.

very good point and I did mention that in my original response. my thinking is that to get server logs etc someone would need a warrant vs LEO being able to just download images.

tbh if you are concerned about privacy/security even visiting this website is going to leave a digital trail, VPN or not. it's almost impossible to completely disconnect browsing habits bc at this point they can ID u by your mouse movements and habits and use that to tie together profile data. shit is scary. if anyone has legit security concerns bc they are in an illegal state or country where their life and livelihood are at risk, I definitely wouldn't be browsing RIU. I agree that most of us have nothing to worry about, especially in legal states.

Personally I am at the point where I am more worried about what the future holds if I don't speak up and help to normalize its use. But everyone should definitely understand and weigh these options for themselves.

I don't mind al of that. I'm sure there is no way to not leave a trace of where you been on the net. That's waaaaaaay too far out there for my knowledge to get into. I can inquire info about illegal/legal things all I want. I'm just talking about pics. Pics tell a thousand words. You can always say I was joking when I typed that. Hell I see a lot of peoples' sig that say exactly that lol. Pics don't/can't lie.
