Feminized seeds

Well, I searched and I can't find any recent threads on feminized seeds.

So... just wondering what experiences people are having with these now. The first time I tried some fem seeds a few years ago was a disaster. 2 out of 10 actually popped and one died shortly after sprouting, while the other grew to about 8 inches tall when it became obvious that it was a sickling and wouldn't do well. I let it go longer knowing that some plants will recover and do well, but this one just didn't It was all deformed and it grew really really slow and then it hermed on me.

Are the new generation of fem seeds better now? What have your experiences been with these?

The problems you had really were unrelated to the feminization process. Bad genetics + old seeds sounds like a better explanation.

If you want to ensure you avoid bad recessives, or at least minimize the chance of them popping up (Ie: Herms, weak sickling plants, no vigor) get a feminized hybrid.

S1's (like anything inbred) will bring bad traits to the surface and will require hunting through seeds.

I wondered about that...if what I had were just bad genetics or just old. But at the time, a couple three years ago, what happened to me wasn't uncommon either. So I was just wondering if things have improved.

Of the fem breeders who are the names to look for?

Only feminized seeds I've grown are from Sannieshop. Oh, and 1 CH9 (critical 33 which was surprisingly decent but I did not keep it).

Sugar Punch is my fav all time strain that I've grown and tied for fav all time smoke with the bright green happy weed from my youth which I'm pretty sure was a haze/skunk cross. Shackzilla is supposed to be awesome too. Depends on what you're looking for though.

Thinking fem seed is somehow worse than regular is one thing, but thinking you failing to germinate - the easiest part - and grow a few decent plants from only 10 seeds says anything about fem seed in general, is just silly and makes it even more obvious what caused that grow to fail. If hearing the truth makes you throw tantrums, don't ask questions. Welcome to rollitup. :finger:

My growing experience is mainly with AK47, White Russian and Northern Lights, as they are my favourites. I see there's fem versions of those around now and was thinking of giving the AK48 a go.

I don't do the whole argue with people on the internet, but right there is where you inferred it.

but also because they had several similar complaints from others about that particular strain.
So there was bad breeding practices used, or the seeds were old or something. Understandable why your seeds didn't work.

I'm curious to know if breeders have improved their methods and if fem seeds are more stable.
Not trying to be a dick, but here you infer the same thing in this post. Yes they are fine, if you use reputable breeders who have good quality standards and test their gear or at least semi-test their gear * run some plants themselves without doing a massive test with the public*

This poisoned with silver thing is not exactly accurate, hormonally manipulated I would say is more accurate.

As for peoples fems are more hemie prone then regs. Put 50 reg seeds vs. 50 femmed seeds. reg seeds say 25/25 fem:male just for simplicity, while all 50 fems are well female... you are going to find more issues with the 50 females rather then the 25 females and 25 culled males. That's one part of it I believe personally that's just my opinion. Some breeders do suck though.

I'd say it's more likely you just got a bad batch of seeds, IMO and limited experience fems are just as good as regs. I had a reg seed hermie in my last run.

Hey Gquebed, when everyone else is calling you out and you just wanna be a dick, perhaps it's you and not everyone else. Ain't a way to make friends and all that. If anyone is over sensitive, perhaps it's you.
