Fertilizer Burn Prevention

So, I'm about to begin my grow and the only soil that I could get is pre-fertilized. I now it is generally believed to be a bad thing. So automaticaly I think, I'll just use less nutes and see. But then I find this on wikipedia:
Fertilizer burn can be remedied by soaking the soil with water to flush out excess salts. It can be prevented by applying only dilute or controlled-release fertilizer products
So, It basicaly says - controlled-release fertilizer is good. And now I'm confused.
Anyone have any expirience/good read?

Mix it with non fertilized soil 50:50...to start....or you could mix up a quick batch of 1:1:1 compost/peat/perlite and then mix that 50:50 with your soil.....

Yeah, it's just that no store in my region sells any of it :( If there was something else, be sure I'd get it. This time it's this soil.

Still the question stands - any info/links/expirience on growing in fertilized mediums?

I've done grows in miracle gro potting soil. I would soak the soil for 24-48hrs, wouldn't hurt to put an air stone in there. Then rinse it through a sieve or cheesecloth in small batches. This will get rid of some of the nutes.

on the bag, does it say how long the fertilized soil should last? like 6 months with out any feeding required? just use RO water at the beginning for at least a few weeks if not months. i'd rather under than over feed at the beginning with small plants

Just use the soil and then when starting use nutrients start out slow using about 1/4 of what is directed. DO NOT worry the soil nutrients will not harm but do some good. Now if you look up " 420 ideal soil" soil made especially for marijuana no nutrient use just use water thru-out grow. Is a bit pricy

Thanks everyone! No additional nutes for as long as possible it is!

It says on the pack that the nutes should last for 6 months. I thought to maybe wash it as you suggest, but afraid it might provoke faster nute release. Still not sure about this, but feel much more confident! Thanks!
