Few questions about a simple setup.

Hi guys, just joined the site after having spent a few hours doing research that didn't answer my questions. so hopefully your experienced hands and minds will be able to set me straight before i get started. just wanna add that i was friends with a large scale grower for many years, so im familiar with large setups but im looking for info towards getting the most out of a single plant at a time which is something im not familiar with.

the scoop: i wanna grow a single autoflower for self supply, i have a 200w hps light, a 15 gallon planter pot thats mouth is 20" diameter. so since its already half a meter squared i figured id make a perfect meter squared screen and do SOG method for more yield and nicer buds.

first question: seed site shows estimated yield as 450-550g/m2, is this still a reasonable estimation from a single plant if it is spread over the whole area? when i hear people do SOG math theyre usually talking how many plants they can fit into a m2, so i just wasnt sure if the g/m2 ratio was based on amount of plants or the space itself.

second question: grow medium, ive always been told coacoa is the best but since it has no base nutrients you have to control it carefully, there are no hydro stores in my area to buy specific nutes so i would need names of home depot/lowes available nutrients if you have any to recommend. anyone have good things to say for soil?

kjust saw the time i gotta run to work i await responses eagerly!!

Those estimates are for well grown plants under 1000w. Odds are against growing more than a pound under a 200w, auto-flower, in a fifteen gallon pot, single plant, grow. Concentrate on growing her out the best you can and you will enjoy your harvest. Coco is a good start. Can you buy nutes from Amazon or ebay?

Ok. I figured as much but just wanted verification. And my strain calls for 6-8 weeks seed to harvest so honestly as long as I get like 3 Ozs it'll last me until the next one is done. I could buy nutes online but would prefer not to. I still plan to screen it but I won't bother doing the whole m2.

I like house and garden. If you want to save a bit while you're learning, I'd go w/ the fox farm, or general hydroponics line. I've used all three and they work well. The house and garden stuff is worth it, if you know what you're doing.

Go to your large scale grower friend and ask politely for his assistance in regards to your need for nutes........all he can say is who the fuck are you !
.....I'm sure if you do some research you can find what you need .I was quite surprised to find that almost all of the nutes discussed on this site can be found in my area at most of the many mom & pop lawn and garden shops and yes I can speak positive about growing with soil . I'm very comfortable growing in soil with many decades of experience. That's not to say if your comfort zone is elsewhere that's where you need to concentrate your efforts. Whatever is easier for you to obtain the results you seek.
Good Luck !
