So I woke up this morning and 1 of my plants is dead. I don't know what happened but it's completely dried up and looks like crap.

So does anyone possibly know why 2 of my 4 plants have shriveled up and died in the past 2 days? It's already beginning to happen to the other 2 as well. I put a few more lights in the box (though not close to the plants) and next thing you know everything starts to die. I took the lights out and they are getting fed fine. I'm contemplating scrapping this whole ordeal as I feel like it's a waste of effort at this rate. They aren't growing due to a reason that is beyond me.

Do you have any fans setup for intake/exhaust? Have you checked your temps?
As for watering wait till its dry on top and stick your finger in the soil about an inch and if it feels dry they need watering, Thnx to RIU for that bit of invaluable bit of info

I have two intake fans running than run quite well. They move what seems like a lot of air, and also have just a hole for exhaust however you can feel wind being blown out of it.
I don't know man, I haven't checked my temps lately as the only temp gauge I own I accidently left back in my home town (recently moved out). Maybe they were getting too hot with the extra lights in there. I removed all the lights I added, I hope the 2 plants I have left just don't end up dying.

Anyone think that transplant might have killed these guys? I mean I transplanted maybe 4-5 days ago, but I can't really figure out much of what could be the problem besides that.
I'm clueless.
Edit: Will get pics of the plants later that are having problems. One of them I removed from the box and have yet to put back in but I may just to TRY and revive it (though I don't know if it will be effective).
There may be a chance I overwatered/fed them as well. The plant that went first happened to be the one that I overwatered a couple of days back. But this last one that died was definitely one of the healthiest looking ones. It's such a damn shame but they are completely drooped over and their leaves are dry as shit.

So everyone I'm kinda losing hope here. I just flushed my soil in hopes to bring these guys to good health. 3 of my plants aren't doing well and one isn't doing the best. Two are shriveled up and look bad, but I am attempting to revive them. I hope everything works out well.

Actually I have two plants in that condition, one in the box and the other on the balcony.
After flushing with water and avoiding nutes since everything seems to be SLOWLY getting better. As you said the plant pictured above certainly isn't dead, and it still has green to it, it might just be me but it looks even greener today.
My 2 plants in "okay" condition are doing quite well. Haven't deteriorated in health at all. Wondering when I should begin applying nutes again? Going to take it slow this time and use half the feeding that I'd usually use. My PH sits at 6.4 with the nutes being mixed this way. I guess it should be fine.

Figured I'd post an update on these guys.
I had 4 plants to begin but I now only have two. I found out the source of my problems came from major nute burn (entirely my fault). I flushed them all with water as I said before but was still scared to keep them in the soil because fungus gnats were really getting into it.
Long story short yesterday I went out and bought some SS Oceans Forest soil to give a whirl. I've actually never used FF soil but I hear great things and I figure good, clean, and non-nutrient filled soil will do the plants well. I was right. As I said, I put them in yesterday in their soil. Put a small amount of water (mixed with a trace amount of natural gnat killing stuff I bought) and they are showing progress overnight quite well. It's good to see them actually moving in a far more positive direction.
After class I'll get pictures up, got finals today and spring break next week. I hope these guys get on track before I leave for spring break. and I also hope they don't get dried up while I'm gone!
Also have two new seeds sitting in some rockwool cubes right now germinating. So two die and I plan to add two more. Still debating when I should being to flower the two plants I have in their now. I have my flowering box almost entirely set up and I just built the light fixture. I figured I'll at least wait til these things get at least 98% healthy. Still slow growing plants though.
So note to self for future reference:
-Don't be a dumbass.

I think this was all disaster to start with not trying to kill your dreams of ever growing or anything. Having 1 plant in its on container is almost too much sometimes depending on the genetics of your seeds. This is the first problem you might have made because bagseed isn't always that great to start with (poor genetics) your better off ordering some seeds online. It's my first time growing as well and you can check my grow out in my signature. Your CFL's seem to be fine though since I am only using x2 85 watts. Once you get the hang of things and read a little bit more on here you will be alright though. I hope the ones that you do have still grow huge and you get good yeilds. I am just about 2-3weeks from chop

Oh trust me man I know things were really kinda doomed from the get-go. But as I said, I got them from a friend exactly how you see in the first post. It's unfortunate he kinda was/is the source for almost all of my issues I've had up to this point.
Basically I am using this as an experiment to grow. I would love to order some seeds so I can just know what genetics I'm getting (and fem seeds are always a plus), but right now I can't do this due to money. I hope that the seeds I have planted now will be better off since I'll actually start them the right way.
and the thing is is that the friend who gave me these plants also gave a friend of mine a seed from the same batch. It looks legit though. The person who is growing that plant has been doing this for quite some time though. Anyhow, it's 3 weeks into flowering and if I can get pictures this weekend I'll snap some up for shits.
Anyhow, things seem better now that my still living plants (the whopping 2 of 'em) are in a good and stable home now. I know nute burn was a problem because I realized that the soil I was using was shit for drainage and so were the pots. That's all fixed now though I hope in a couple of days I can truly say they'll at least pull through for now.

So it's been quite some time and I've been vegging these guys out. They still aren't up to par of where I'd want them to be so I kinda am just going to flower them and see how they play out. Who knows, maybe I'll get some experience/smoking material out of it.
Anyhow, to make this update short, for the past while I've been feeding these two plants with nothing but some seabird guano (small amounts, with an NPK of 10-10-0), labeled amounts of Liquid Karma, and also labeled amounts of Cal-Mag (Bontanicare line). I wanted to focus on vegging while of course keeping organic nutes only in mind. The plants are also in fox farm oceans forest blend if you did not know.
Here are pictures taken today, they are in darkness now and thus beginning their flowering cycle. I have topped each plant a couple of times and want to possibly practice a scrog method as they start budding. Anyhow, the plants are tied down via LST, and I tied each site just the other night so keep this in mind of course.
Plant #1, This one has had some yellowing on the tips, but it doesn't seem to be getting any worse than it was before. It's still growing out quite nicely, more long vertically and the fan leaves are bushing out quite nicely.
Plant #2, a lot more "stubby" if you will. Not sure if this is related to genetics (IE- a more Indica plant) or just how it all played out:

Okay so quick question. Is it worth my while to practice SCROG with cfls? I just looked into it and read mixed reviews on the ordeal. I'm wondering when I should add the screen as well? Also, is there a set amount of time I should wait before I can see sex organs?
Also, my plants are in darkness right now and I know that shouldn't be disturbed. But if I kept them away from windows and in a dark closet, could I work on the box as they sat there for a bit? I really should redo my mylar in my box as it isn't nearly as organized as it should be.

So a little update, it's been 3 or so days in 12/12. I put in a scrog screen the other night about an inch above the plant tops. The plants have already stretched past the screen which is a lovely site to see. I have to go out of town this weekend and I hope when I come back there will be sex organs.
Also have one seed and a clone (seed just germed) that are going to be put into a separate veg box until they are ready to go. I'm really curious to see how much they produce seeing as how they have been through some crap.
Quick question if anyone has the time to answer, should I feed less often now that it is in flower? I stopped using N based products (guano, FF, etc) and am only using bontanicare pro bloom, liquid karma, and cal mag at the moment. When buds start to form I will add molasses (Humboldt Honey). But I don't want to over feed them during this very important process.
Also, I know interrupting your plant during darkness is a "no no" but, is there any way to do it? I can wait until light to work on my plants, but sometimes it sucks I want to see how they're doing before bed yet my lights don't turn on until early morning. Just curious to see if anyone has a method of doing so safely.

Today I returned from being out of town all weekend. I came home to kind of a mess in the grow box. Basically some of my lights fell onto one of my plants and burned some of the leaves. I pruned/trimmed off the burnt spots. Everything else seems to be doing well, here are some pictars:

ALSO. I think my plants are starting to show sex organs, but I may be ENTIRELY wrong. I spotted some little "hairs" on both plants and tried to snap pics of them, here they are:
Are those sex organs or signs of flowering in any way? I don't see any "balls" yet, and both plants have these growing in multiple spots. Does this mean they are both fem? Or am I looking at something entirely wrong??
Please keep this going people. I feel like I keep talking to myself in here, but I want to keep this alive so I can get advice.

Nah those aren't pistils sorry. It's still a little too early to tell...

Thanks a lot for the help man. I figured it may still be a little early to tell. They do in fact look a lot nicer though, they've been through a lot and are doing their best ever now. I feed them a lot less and try to keep things balanced.
When pistils first appear, what color are they? Are they white? I'm not even sure what quite to look for, I've look into some guides online and I know the difference between a male and a female, but not sure if I've seen any organs so far.
I wish I could get better pictures for you all as my little camera phone doesn't pick up details well at all (go figure).

I know you've seen the pictures but I'll try and find better ones for you. You could always clone for sex. It takes about two weeks but you get to find if your wasting your time or not.
What I can say without pictures is that female organs (I'm calling them calyxes from now on) won't be protruding from the plant on a stem, in other words, calyxes are attatched to the plant. as oppose to a male which kind of looks like a cherry (now that I read that It confuses even me. unless you can imagine what I mean forget it).
Male pre-flowers start off as a lone little ball thing, but eventually they form a cluster. NOT like a female in chich the calyxes are stack one on top of another, NOT in bunches. Male pre-flowers look more like bunches of grapes, and female pre-flowers look more like strawberries.
I've been growing long enough that 99% of the time I can tell the difference between a very early male preflower and a very early female preflower.
This is a picture of a VERY early male pre-flower.
Do you see how there is a split right through the center of it? Female pre-flowers don't have that. If you can take a very fine blade or someting really thin, and slid it in there and split them open, it's probably a male. I woulndn't reccomend this to someone new to growing just cause the male and female preflower look almost similar to the untrained eye. So do so at your own risk. I still keep suspected males in a room isolated and on watch just to make sure when I'm not 100% positive.

On another note, I just purchased a brick of coco that I will be using to start some clones in. Now I KNOW that cloning during flowering is something people advise against, but mine just got thrown into 12/12 so as far as I'm concerned, it should be safe to snip a few clones off. Will get pictures when I get them set up, this way I can also tell the clones sex by determining the sex of their mother plant (obviously).
Never tried growing in coco but I have been reading into it for some time so I feel like i know somewhat what I am doing. I just hope my clones root well in the medium, I hear good and bad things about cloning with coco. We'll see how it goes.

I have various nutes that I would like to see if they actually make a difference. For example, with the clones I will probably run half with LK (Liquid Karma) to support rooting, and the other half without it, to compare which roots/grows faster. Should be a very informative/learning experience for myself.
