Fimming/Scrog

1x Bubba Kush

Second attempt. 5.5 weeks old. Growing in 50/50 potting mix and perlite. Under 135w actual light. Light is currently 12" above top of canopy. Fimmed them a week ago have tied down lower branches. Plants are 12" tall and grow area is 2x2.5 ft wide.

Questions are when do I install the netting and how much taller do I let them get before I do? When the netting is in do I remove all the tie down string. Will the plant continue to grow taller now its been fimmed or should I be bending the top over.

I've never fimmed, but I top at about 8 inches tall, usually about the third to fifth node, and start tucking under the screen at that point.

After that I tuck until the screen is about 70% full and switch to 12/12 and continue tucking until the end of stretch, usually about week 3 of flower.

I don't bother bending branches until after topping, but I'd say once you're tucking you won't need your existing tie-downs.

Cheers for the post, ill make a screen today and install straight away. What size squares of netting do you use? Do you cut any of the lower branches off or let them grow up to the screen?

4 inch. No, I let the lower branches grow up into the screen and tuck them too. During stretch I'll remove some of the lower foliage that isn't getting light but that's about it.

Yep scrogging them both. Got them in 3 gallon pots. Just whipped up a net and removed the ties before lights out. Raised floor so any run off is caught in buckets.

As per the photo ive mounted the net just above the plants, is this right or should I lower it into the plant so I can tuck some of the taller existing growth

Should I be bending the top under or just bend the new growth from fimming under? Will the plant still grow higher after fimming or does it have the same effect as topping

Hey guys, any thoughts on above questions, should I be lowering the net or let them grow to it. Have about 2.5-3.0 ft max above net height.

So I've lowered the net a bit and started to bend back under, still unsure if I should now top or just keep bending over the main stalk. Fim seems to have worked.

Love the set up you have,.I am going to copy it, as I have the exact same setup even down to the light and area, can I ask a question as. Ive never scrogged, I see some leaves etc sticking through the nets, will you let these grow for a bit then bend them under the net?.

Yep thats the plan, this is my first go so I'm winging it.

Question...light is currently 21" away from screen. Should I leave it this far away or bring closer, my thinking with having it further away was for them to stretch a little so I can get right out to the corners.

Any help appreciated.

What have you have setting on lights, 50% or 100% etc

Lights can't be adjusted. It is 135w actual.

Tried fimming for the first time. Safe to say I’m a fan

I'd have that tied over at the 4/5th node then start tucking the latteral shoots, I wouldn't fim until it's grown back level.

Nice result Smokey Joe, thats what I was hoping for.

I definitely fucked this up. I've untucked the top of the plant to let the new fimmed shoots grow out some more. Should I move the light further away?
