Finally got my ppm meter... now what?

So, I finally went out and bought myself a ppm meter at the local hydro shop. When I arrived home I mixed 1 gallon of distilled water with 4 or 5 tsp of Fox Farm Big Bloom. My ppm was only at 325 ppm! Is that normal? And, should I add more Big Bloom to raise the ppm? I am worried that I will get nute burn if I add any more nutes. I also have Fox Farm Grow Big and Tiger Bloom.

Oh yeah, my baby is about 2 months old and 1 month into flowering. So far everything has gone pretty well.

Never used a PPM meter, but I would err on the side of caution. I normally use 1/2 the recommended dosage. Better safe than sorry.

thanks Torturedzen for the response. Thats pretty much what I am doing now. I dont want to add too much nutrient and get nute burn on my girls. but I do want to make sure im doing this right. Right now my ppm is 325ppm. Ive read on this forum that my ppm should be higher.... Should I add 5 more tsp of Big Bloom to raise my ppm to 650ppm? or should I add some Tiger Bloom? That sounds like alot of nutrients. Some people on here say that the ppm of a two month old plant should be about 1000ppm!!! What kind of water and how much nutrients does anybody out the there use? what is your ppm? How old are your girls?

Hey bigin I use roots organic and fox farm nutes I keep my ppm at 900 for first 3 weeks of flowering then bump it up slowly too 1400 ppm. In veg I start with 200 ppm after two three weeks out of clone dome. then every week go up a little no higher than 900 in veg.

Oh yeah h2o I keep it at 6.6 ph. If you see signs of nute burn just flush. You should flush every 3-4 weeks anyways because the f.f. nutes will have salt/acid.etc build uparound roots.

Bigrintxas, have you calibrated your meter? I think it's wise to calibrate even a brand new meter. Calibration solution packets are only a few bucks. I'm not saying your meter is wrong but it's good to be sure.

I started with distilled water I bought from the grocery store. The label says it is R/O and Ozonation and my ph kit reads 6.5
I added 2tsp of Grow Big, 2tsp of Tiger Bloom, 1TBS Big Bloom and 20 drops of superthrive. My ph dropped big time and I had to add about 50 drops ph up to get it back to 6.5
My ppm pen reads less than 200ppm!!!! I just bought this ppm pen a couple days ago and the guy at the hydro shop said it doesnt need to be calibrated for a while. The owners manual also states that my ppm pen has been calibrated in the factory. Next time I go into town I will buy some calibrating solution, but that will not be until a few days.
So whats going on here? Does this sound normal to anyone out there? Thanks for your help.

Oh wow I feel like a real dumb ass. I saw something blinking in the corner but I couldnt read what it said. After further inspection it is a X10 that keeps blinking. So my ppm is really 1600ppm. I was beginning to think my ppm pen was broken, but really I just didnt know how to use it.... I guess I will start diluting down my nutrient mix.
Thanks Picasso for all your help, I appreciate it. rep for you :hump:
