First CFL closet/box grow (super dank bagseed)

I too am doing a really small grow with cfls lol in my fireplace of all places until this weekend when she moves to the closet. I have the bushiest plant for my first grow, I completely contribute this to the lightening and keeping it so close. A flexibility you have with cfl. If you can keep those lights low and concentrated like 5 inches in all ways you will stimulate overall grow and not cause your plant stretch for light. You have to play a little burn and brown with your tips to teach you how close your lites can be but it seems with my 100w output cfls that 5 inches from the longest given tip closet to the light is the right about right. I had some burn and brown as I learned my lights, but not any more as I watch her and let her teach me. I have kept it really simple with filtered water, which I use a simple ph test kit for aquariums from any walmart~pet store etc. You can adjust your ph up with baking soda and down with vinegar all you will find in the growing threads. So filtered water and I added in Fox Farm big grow at say a week shy of thirty days a half teaspoon to a half gallon every other day. I mist top and bottom leaves morning and night and turn the plant like the sun would move and as they grow areas will show density that you can adjust your lighting to add to the lushesness if you will.
Sorry so long but I felt bad for you, Im a newbie first grow 1month and a week and shes perfect and this is all I do, btw I chose a soil with really low nutes also and honestly in the beginning I did some real watered down miracle grow watering that could have helped but I mostly give creds to the lights I went from a flora to 1 cfl then 2 then 3 and every day she changes., the miracle with its high concentrations confused me when I had the burn/brown tips like is it the chem or the light. Using the Fox Farm grow exactly as the bottle has brought me huge results with a very minimal Id say Im into this whole thing for maybe $30

hey guys thanks for your help. i will try my best to get in here tomorrow and post some new pics. all three babies are doing fine as of now. have a 4th baby coming soon i hope. sorry i haven't had new pics i have just been soooooooooooo busy. hahah. anyway bed soon so pics to come i promise.

DAY 12

ok so here are some pic of day 12 for 3 and day like 2 for the sprout(looks to be stretching a bit but all is well)

so question. there are 2 that look almost identical then the one that looks way different. the 2 that look the same are from different buds. but i know nothing about strains so instead of looking it up i hope someone here knows about them. any ideas about the strain of any of these plants and the differences of them. i hope you can see but the 2 have fat leaves and the other has skinny. any help i love.

i have yet to purchase the new light or the PH stuff how are my babies looking?

I am new to growing as well, but in a complete coincidence we started our first grows on the same day, Feb 1.

So, i dont have a camera, sorry, but i can tell you from the pics that your plants do look a bit droopy. This could be because of over watering. How much have you been watering over the past 12 days?

Also, how far away are you CFL'S? Mine are 2 in away, my plants do seem slightly bushier and farther in growth than yours. Keep your lights as close as possible to your plants, this promotes leaf growth and girth.

Also, go and get that ph tester at Petco, sounds like a good deal if you get the pH up and down with it. pH is very important, correctly pH'd water means that the plants roots absorb the most amount of nutrients possible.

Just to clarify what others said about homemade pH'd water. Vinegar lowers your pH and baking soda increases your pH.

I am going off the book, Buds For Less, Grow 8 oz of bud for $100. Great book many pointers, just SeeMoreBuds grow journal. Day to day photos and text. teaches you how to grow with CFL's.

DAY 13

ok here are some more pic pretty much the same as yesterday just a little bigger i guess.

as for over watering i really doubt that is an issue i only water when the soil is dry and not too much. plus if i were over watering one i would assume all of them would be over watered i tend to give them the same amount at the same time.

still kinda curious about the strains here. as i think you can tell a little better this time is that the one (last pic) has those long skinny leaves and the others have those fatter shorter ones. i know this means something i just don't know what. and my biggest plant (second pic) is starting to get a slight bit of yellow already? i just added one more bulb today as well.

what do ya think?

I really think you are underwatering a bit based on the separation of the soil from the edges of the pot. When you water what is the drainage like, is a good amount of the water draining through or when you water is it just absorbed....a good amount should be draining back out. Those look like pretty good size pots. I would use a half gallon pitcher that you can get anywhere fill up the pitcher and water all three evenly from the pitcher, most of it should drain off but it will be a good healthy drink, I water every other day based on this method.

there are 4 plants and i only water when the soil is dry. this seems to be how everyone does it including me on my last grow. and yeah when i water some drains out of the bottom. these are 8" pots and the only pots they will be in for this grow.

to me the light seems pretty much evenly distributed around and over the plants. i'll try to have a better look later....i was planing on putting something to reflect all the light down. i'll try and get that done and post some new pics soon. for now too much work.

DAY 19

ok so i just spent well over an hour working on my grow.
  • i moved the lights so that i have two bulbs fixed over each plant.
  • i put one of those car reflectors in there to reflect the light down (this worries me on heat will see soon enough)
  • and i started my LST.
i have included pics one of each plant and a few of the whole set up. any comments are welcome i would actually love to hear them after that sit on the floor for over an hour (killed my back; bowl time)

AND i don't know if you can see in the pics but i've got some yellowing starting to happen to the bottom leaves on almost all the plants. i haven't given nutes and sadly haven't been able to start PHing my water.

nice grow have u run into n e probs. cuz im on day 13 and mine are a lil bigger. you should try to get some superthrive it really helps. you can find it at walmart

the only problem is they do look to be growing a little slow and the now yellowing of the leaves. i will try to pick up some nutes and i'll consider the superthrive seems almost everyone uses it.

i would say 2-4 inches the pics are current so it looks like that. i think they are quite close.i can't wait for them to take off and start growing like crazy and get all big so i can flower them ahhh i am just so excited.

yeah i have one fan in the top right corner it is in one of the pics too. it does a pretty good job maybe i will move it or try and through another on in there. but i haven't seen it top 90 yet so i guess i am safe.

dude. go to wal mart...get some cheap clip on reflectors that you use in shops. They are silver and cost aabout 2 dollars a piece. Put your spitters with your bulbs in there and get one for each plant. You can hang those and would be effiecient enough.

Leave your door open on the grow as much as possible whenever you can...getting fresh air is essiential. Also...that was more of an HST...than an LST. You bent the shit outta the stem. If they survive that it will be interesting to see which way they would go.

How many seeds do you have. With the limited amount of space and heat issues. I would go with as many little plants as possible. You would only ahve to use coffee can sie pots and could do about 10 of these...vegging for a couple of weeks and throwing them into flower. You'lll have bud alot sooner!

as for now i would say go invest in some simple reflectors....i made mine out of baking pans check it out!
