Hey All,

Does anyone know what socket you use for a 125watt (actuall wattage) daylight CFL??? It does not fit into a regular socket. As it is im using 12-23watt daylight cfls for my 2 mothers and want to add 2 of the big 125's. Rural King has them for around 40 bucks.
Thanks

you need to get what the call a mogul socket for those. there are some 105 watt and 125 watt medium based cfl but you pretty much have to order them of line. as far as mogul sockets go home depot, menards, lowes, or any electrical supply store should be able to set you up with something. not sure of cost though. If you have any expierience with wiring up fixtures it could be 10-30 dollars, if you need to buy something it could be substatialy more. i know menards has 85 watt medium based bulbs or around 30, jut another option for you.

good luck on your hunting.

Thanks, I have received alot of great advice from several experenced grower's, so always try to help others for what has worked good for me so far....

ok, should i give it any lenghty period of darkness first, i hear some people say they give them 24 hour of darkness before going 12/12. I was wondering if this necesary for the plants or just give them a full 12 hours of darkness the night i want to start flowering schedule?:
-Depends, what is you current veg cycle? 24/0 18/6? I had great luck with a gradual change over, Started with 24/0 for most of the veg state then went 18/6 for about a week slowly over to 12/12... Funny, I had the same question about complete darkness before switching to flowering lighting? It was reccomended to just stick with the light cycle change over and let it be, well so far so good....I have herd of complete darkness for the harvesting stage...Think I'll read more up on it once we get there.

i think ill wait till the 28th because that'll be roughly four weeks maybe a little longer in vegg. should i swtch to flower nutes when i switch lights or wait till 1st signs of floral production?

-Yeh, I would also switch over nutes slowly aswell, Say 1-2 feedings in flower with the higher Nitg nutes, then switch over to the bloom nutes or what ever you plan on using...Agein, this is just how I have approched and have had success with doiing so..

thanks, i would rather here what has worked rather than so and so said to do this, so tonight ima go to 16/8 because i am at 17/7 then just step it down each day till im at 12/12 then do 2 more veg feedins then do a 1/2 strength flower. finishing with full strength till about 2 weeks before final cut. i think that should make my final crop taste nice. you have been a great help zorr and every one else that posted, hope you got the answer to your question here BigBudE. ill keep postin my results.

Glad to help, Since you have been working with 17/7 you should have no problems with the switch to 12/12..It's only if one that has been 24/0 through out the whole veg period. If anything there should be less stress, but think it is a great idea on how you plan to switch over. And man couple weeks into flowering things get exciting....;) oh yeah, be ready with adjusting your lighting....It's on the way.

I've never heard of people moving back the lighting one hour until 12/12. Let me know if you see any differences or anything. Even though that might make less difference than the sudden shift to 12/12 from 18/6.

can't wait till i got to raise the lights every day or 2. this is alredy gettin to be more fun and it can only get better. i cant wait to see how they turn out. i was on a 24/0 for the first 3 weeks then have been on 18/6 for a week or two then 3 days ago i went 17/7 so in like 4 or 5 days il be at 12/12. my fingers are crossed ill let you know if this method does any good.

Hey dude, I do want to mention though..don't ever want to offer bad advice! Just keep inmind when in flowering (introducing flowering) change over the full dark period is important, I would say roll..=) with 17/7 for 3 days?right? stay there till thursday 29th...Giving 6 days at this cycle..Then stright 12/12...very important when in flower to give a complete sleep period with no disturbed or mixed lighting...I have read a good amount on this subject, now a couple days may of not made a huge difference but she will react big time once the flower begins. You probley will raise your lights every morning if they are 1-3 inches away which is good...Then stabilize some.

i noticed my other plant is starting to show some similar growths. i am just a little paranoid because this is my 1st indoor and 1st cfl grow.so im kind of clueless on a few things like humidity control as well as the temperature maintinence. i think i got it under control, i leave the door too the closet open from about 30 min to 1 hour ater lights on and close it about the same time before lights out. helps stop the excess build up till i can get a better extraction fan/filter combo. but every outdoor grow i tried usualy didnt make it this far, squirels killed one grow with a bird bath, knocked it off te tree stump on my babies, and someone chopped the other one.

do you think i should induce flowering or let them vegg for a few more days/weeks?? they are about 8-10 inches tall and very bushy.
Depends on how big you want them! Kush = indica = minimal stretch usually, but hybrids do all sorts of crazy things and if bag seed you don't know who the daddy is. You won't get a lot of penetration out of any floros so growing big plants is probably not something you should worry about unless you are doing a lot of side lighting, but first you learn how to grow marijuana, then you learn how to grow good marijuana, then you learn to grow lots of good marijuana. Don't feel like you have to fill ne needs of the eastern sea board on your first grow!!! typical is 2-3x the size they are when you flip to 12/12, but it will vary with each plant.

I would worry a lot more about ventilation and odor control than anything right now. When flowering you need near perfect darkness, and very accurate light scheduling. A pin hole is nbd but much more and you can risk your plant's hermi-ing. Heat stress will do the same thing. If these seeds came from a bag with just a few seeds chances are it was from a hermi in the other guys grow. If the plant has hermi-prone genetics you are taking a bigger risk than bought seeds or even bag seed that was fully seeded. Lot's of good bag seed plants out there, but I'm just saying!

1. get ventilation in place
2. get odor control in place
3. seal all light leaks
4. flower them bitches!!

Unfortunatley i have to lean more to the herm side of things only about 25 - 30 seeds out of the pound my buddy got, thoose are the ones lucky enough to fall into my hands, so there could have been more. Not doing it to supply the midwest or anyhing like that. i apreciate the advice, if this turns out even half as potent as the stuff that they came from it will definatley b worth it. there is already starting to be a noticable odor, but im honestly not too woried about that, i live "out of the way" for most people. my plants are realy bushy, maybe a 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch between nodes and realy thick.

Curent temp in my grow is at 87 degrees with the door open, too scared to leave it closed. I'm about to pull the plants out for a while and see what the temp gets to with the door closed. I was wondering how high can it be before plants experience problems, I am working on getting an extraction fan and trying to get an ac vent in there. Is 87 too high, lights have been on for 7 or 8 hours as of right now so it should get any higher.

Was having the same problem with my door shut, with the lights on...87 is alittle warm from them but 90's is when I would worrie...Depending on how much cash you are will to spemd, they make small standup A/C units that plug in as normal, I don't have one gave this some thought if things got to hot...

little out of my price right now but i may consider it for a future grow. the night time temps are around 83-84 and thats only 3-4 degrees hotter than my actual house temp ac is set to 78 it fluxes between 78-81 when i cook and what not. so i just open the door within a half hour of lights on and close it about 15 min before lights out. decided to switch to 12/12 today so this is the 1st night they get 12 hours of darkness. i stoped by your thread total and i will be subing to it also. apreciate the help ill post new pics when i hit 1 week into flower, maybe add some 2marrow as a before and after type deal.

they realy seem to like the technaflora recipe for sucess they almost grew 2 inches since i fed them and ive only watered once since them been about 3 days. feeding every 3rd water, i acidently mixed it a little stronger than they recomend but plants showed no signs of nute burn or anything. my only real enemie has been the heat issue and a little bit of impatience, i stunted the growth of my littler one by trying to help it shed its seed casing but i ended up ripping one of the cotyledon in half.

im growing in regulatr crap dirt
but im thinking of buying organic soil any suggestioins on if i should do it or not
i can grow a big plant but im too much of a worried dad
to see any growth and it freeks me out

definitely gunna have to get them in complete darkness when you go 12/12. also add a few more 2700k, couldnt hurt. Im not sure how usefull the 85w 5000k is, ive just read that more 2700k is recommended for flowering.
I'll 2nd the 5000k comment, I don't believe the plant is even able to "see" that spectrum of light. You need about a 7:1 ratio of red(2700k) to blue(6500k) light for flowering.

thanks for the input, i can agree with you on the bushiness its getting harder to see the middle stem for me even when i try and move the branches here are a couple of new pics:

how am i doing?
That's that kush man a nice dense indica. They probably won't get much taller than 2 1/2 feet so I think you'll be ok with your space. Just get ready for rock hard nugs!

I would suggest starting your own thread instead of hijacking this good kush grower's space bro.
