First cfl grow -- almost harvest time (excited)

Hey guys,

I posted here about 2 months ago wen I started my first CFL grow. Since then, I gave away one of my babies because I simply did not have the light or room to support all three. Time flies, Monday will be my harvest day. I've been flushing these babies for almost 2 weeks. I just want to say...I'm VERY SURPRISED HOW WELL CFL WORKS!!! The buds looks dank, but there is only one way to find out....



SETUP and Nutes:

12x 23WCFL 35k during flowering and 75k for vegging

Jack's Classic 20-20-20 for veg and 10-30-20 or flowering, in combination with Shooting Powder

Happy Frog Soil

I will update when I harvest and cure.

thank you dread.

with HPS, you don't need worry about your plants growing into your bulb everyday, and adjusting the clamps every other day. but its all good, its all TLC

When I think of CFL's I tend to think of the 105,125,150,200,and250w ones where the bulbs are about 12 inches long and in a Bat Wing or HydroFarm reflector it's verry ingenuitive to see standard lamp bulbs as somthing to grow with Shanghaining you get my respect ond rep+ for some really beautiful plants! I really love the way the tricomes and turpins are produced under fluorescents you don't always get that under HID's with their heat. Any future growes in the workes, will you stick with these strains. I've been experimenting with Querkel from Subcool/TGA gear and IMO the the resin and color jump of the plant when you when you get the lumens up high enuff under fluorescents , consider it.

i will grow another batch after this, i'm going to keep the cheese and try a new strain. I wanna get my hands on some Jack the Ripper or Jack Berber or any Jack for that matter.

So you ran around 280watts total for all three plants? +Rep for a job well done!

originally i had 3, but as the plants gained size i didn't have enough light and room to grow them properly, so i decided to give one away and focus all 12 bulbs on only 2 plants.

Nice, well they turned out fantastic, I'm on my first grow aswell just in the early stages of flowering. I'm started to get excited!!

I'm using 2-68w 2700k 4-23w 2700k and 1- 27w 5500k for flowering. Around 250 true watts right now. Then I have a little clone/mother cab with 2-27w 5500k.

I was thinking of adding 2 more 68w cfl's asap to the flowering room. There's 3 females total in there, 2 short riders and 1 wonderwoman:)

I've been debating on moving one of the short riders to a friends house but its so hard lol.. She would be under a 1000w hps though so I would be able to see the difference in bud development.. What do you think?

yeaaa man. very nicely done!! =) i've used CFL's for all my grows.. and am very happy with them.. although with an HPS.. like sum1 aalready said.. u dont gotta move the bulbs every day.. and if u take the plants out for pics or w.e... its not much of a hassle.. but then again.. since u have to move the bulbs daily.. and move them all around if u want to take the plants out.. it gives u the chance to notice any problems with ur plants.. which is a good thing.. adn it saves u alotta money of ur electric bill as well!! and the heat isnt as bad.

i've gotten 3+ ounces DRY off my WW plants with only CFL's. my avatar pic is of a White Widow (Nirvana) i grew with only CFL's.. adn i got 3.15 ounces from her. =)

very good job tho. i wanna see the harvest picssss!! =D im subscribed!!

**u can chcek out my grow if u want in my signature... i got a super skunk flowering now... a blue venom and super lemon haze in veg.. and im using CFL's for them all.. adn the super skunk looks like shes gonna be a big yielder. =)

I would put one under a HPS (just to have comparison) also it will free up room and light, so you can focus on growing out the other 2.


TRIM TRIM TRIM,

CFL makes your plants hella bushy, when your plants start to bud, pay attention to the big buds and trim off most of the leaves on the bottom of the plants, as they will never really become big buds. you want to trim off the buds and leaves at the bottom of the plants so your plants will focus the energy in producing big buds.


...but i would recommend puttin one under HPS and just use all ur current lights to grow 2 plants, you will get a bigger yield :D

i checked out your thread, shit looks super sticky man.

i actually enjoy moving and checkin the lights everyday, it's something i look forward to everyday. More TLC the better!!!!!!

yeaa i like doing it too.. like i said u will notice things u wouldnt notice if u jsut left it under an hps... you'll catch small bug problems or deficiencies b4 they become a serious problem. =) and i liek to just look at them as well.. and drool over the resin crystals.... =)
