First closet grow, can i get any reccomendations?

, so I'm thinking about buying some lowryder diesel ryder, and some easy lowryder. I'm going to try o breed the two so that i can get seeds, and hopefully expand the harvest of the diesel ryder. This is my first grow, but im not a complete noob, i've read alot into growing. im going to try to grow (5-15) plants in my closet. the closet is alittle strange, its about 4 1/2 feet tall at its highest, but slants down horizontally to 2 1/2-3 ft at the shorter end.
I'm using pots for my first grow, and am looking to grow 6-10 plants. but after i try it, i hope to swtich to a cheap aeropotics form of growing. One question i have is how much light will i need per plant? its a small strain so i think it will be less than a normal plant, but i was thinking a 250 watt HPS + MH light (2 in 1, switch it at different parts of the cycle).
But, will that make the closet too hot? the closet extends about 3-4 feet in, but is very wide (long) probably around 12 feet, but there might be other clutter in the room. I live in New York, so its noramlly 60-75 degrees in my house, probably more twords 70 without any lighting in that closet for the summer. I was planning on masking the smell with pickle jars, and using Black Gold for soil once i could find some. im also looking for nutrients, can anyone reccomend any for shorter, faster harvesting strains like these?

Thanks for taking the time to read.

I think just the HOS will see you through the whole grow. No need for an MH lamp too.
Also, use good ventilation, and you should be good with keeping the temps down.
The height seems ample for lowryders.
Not all too sure about nutrients, as I personally steer clear of them as much as I can.

Good luck with the grow.

Also, maybe consider getting some feminized seeds, grow mother crops and start cloning.
This is a good way to get consistent, faster finishing crops (as compared to from seed).
This could be the way to go once you have crossed the two strains!

Im hoping to get the lights pretty cheaply off e-bay or something, because my wallet says that i can only afford to spend maybe 450-500 on this project.. if that's possible

would using only a HPS light slow down the growing process, or bring down the potency of the plant? if it slows down the process, i'd actually be fine with that as long is it wasn't more than a week or two.

15 plants are a bit many for a 250 watt light. You may want to start with only 5 at first then expand from there. I've killed many a plants trying to hard to fast. I would also mix in some peralite and maybe spagum moss to your black gold. You want your plants to get more air. As far as nutes, I find fox farm very easy to use. Good Luck.

thanks, and i think i'm going to start with 6.. maybe 8

Hmm... I've been looking around, and i think to control temp without a fan, i want to get CFL's. 125-200 watts over head, maybe 60-75 smaller lights pointing on the plants from the side ot make sure the lower buds grow, and maybe to top off energy and light efficiancy some reflectors to concentrate it alittle more. any comments on that?

if u go aeroponics use botanicare nutes use pure blend grow and bloom also liquid karma and cal mag optional a shot of budswell u will love the results.. i just grew donkey dick size colas and tops u cant put ure hand around... flowering 1000 watt hps and keep all my mothers and clones under my 400 mh clones are 99.9% sucess rate everything is perpetual motion crop out every two weeks ...... its a beautiful thing pics comming soon good luck....

wow, aeroponics is so sweet. i just don't have the money to make/ get a set up right now. I need to find a good soil type, and need to know how many i should grow with a 125 watt bulb, and 2 smaller, 75 watt bulbs pointing in from the sides. maybe some reflectors like i said before. 6 seem okay?

Just because you are using CFL's you can not throw heat out of the equation.

I would figure out how I was going to move air though your closet and then determine the appropriate lights to use.

200 watts won't raise the temp much, the closet has large slits in the door, almost like a.. window shade. so air does circulate, and it would have to raise the temp 20 degrees to harm the plants, im actually rooting for a ~10 degree increase.

The direction I was trying to take you was to think about moving air... you have to do this regardless... then once you figure out how much air you can move then think about HPS and MH. If your ambient room temps are 70* you only need to move 200CFM to maintain an 80* cab temp. for a 600w HPS.

and you still need to move 80 CFM with 200W

to be honest i was thinking that the air flow between my room with an a/c and closet may be enough, i can always open the closet, and of course i'd monitor the temperature, and if i got worried i'd put a cheap fan in there.
