Hi guys, happy christmas to you all.

Here i have a Cotton Candy from delicious seeds. 16 days old, has been brought up in Soil & Vermiculite (80/20%ish) 3-4 days ago i transplanted into Coco & Perlite (70/30%ish) Since then her growth has been noticable (day by day)

When i read about others growing in coco, everyone waters 1 or more times a day.. Ive reluctantly watered once a day, with the coco still not drying out as much as i think it should.
I only water around where i think the roots are.

Since being in coco ive fed twice: water the day of trasnplant, quarter feed the day after, half strength yesterday, full strength today (If i really have to water today).

She cant b that hungry so young can she?

Heres pics from a couple days after she popped upto today. (only pics since transplant are today)

JB,
No...she can't be that hungry that early. So back off on the nutes or you'll kill it for sure. Just use water for maybe a week. Water with ph corrected water to about 10% runoff daily. You don't normally let coco dry out. This is most likely from improperly prepared coco.

Once you start nutes...do so at 1/4 strength. Coco specific nutes are best...

Looks like she may be getting burns on this bottom leave. You shouldn't have to feed until the water leaves are gone. I just made the same mistake of feeding too early on and now, a month later, I'm still dealing with it. It was super thrive, which I now know is not plant food, but hormones and stuff for reviving plants. Good luck, happy growing, and Kerry Christmas!

JB,
Contradictory info as always. Coco can be treated like soil or like a hydro media. The coco experts tend to use it as a hydro medium. Only you can chose how YOU are going to use it. But choose one and don't waffle. Coco is a complex medium and nobody will convince me it's good for newbies. I've seen too may threads with plants dying on coco to believe that.

I am using coco specific nutes, ionic coco veg & bloom.

Unfortunately still waiting for a little cash to buy ph & ppm meters.

Have any of you grown in coco?

JB,
I had a grow partner who had a small scale commercial op exclusively in coco. Witnessed his successes and failures first hand. I grew several runs in coco but moved to hydro because of the finicky nature of coco. So I am no proponent of coco nor am I an expert. I still have a few friends who use it and swear by it...but there is a learning curve.

My next run will include several coco hempy buckets. I think it has it's possibilities but I haven't found them yet.

i grow in coco and honestly i always start feeding my plants after about 10 days after they break ground. I just start them around 250ppm and have had success using these combos of nutes>>>>>gh flora series/house&garden+calimagic/flora micro+soul synthetics grow/and have also used botanicare cns17+micro i have had success with all and only use calmag or calimagic if the base nutrients i am using are not coco specific and lacking mg or if they are just camg whores and seem deficient.

as for your plant i dont know for sure since i can't imagine a mg deficiency coming on that quick but that's just IMO so if all options seem to fail you coco is very easy to flush IMO grab a few gallons of distilled or RO water and give them a decent flush then mix you a 1/4 strength drink for them and just keep an eye out untill you get things dialed in.

just for info purposes i am currently running 5ml gal calimagic & 10ml gal soul synthetic grow tap is 200ppm and w/nutrients is 900ppm ph set at 5.8

oh i do add 1tbsp dolomite lime per gallon of medium which in my case is a 70/30 coco perlite mix. Also when i first rinse my coco i start by running plain tap through. I place my coco and perlite in a smart pot and turn the shower on for awhile(lazy i know) after i think it is rinsed enough i then mix in my lime and run a final rinse of phd water with 5ml gal of calimagic..

that is exactly my process and it has worked IME try it if you don't get it under control maybe it will work well for you maybe it won't only know what has worked for myself.

Good luck brother

ohhh coco and peat well from my own experience and this happened only once.

When i first decided to switch to coco i had been growing in roots organics which is a peat base. I thought i would be some kind of genius and when i transplanted from 1 gallons to 3 and 4 gallon pots i did so using my new coco/roots mix.
Well needless to say all but 1 of my plants got the claw and while i managed to limp them to the finish line the quality was surely affected.
Once i went straight coco/perlite i never looked back.

I didnt mix or prepare my coco, all ive done is mix perlite.

The coco comes with a ph of 6.1 & ec of 0.3. I didn't flush before use?

Also wont have meters for a week or so, everything has to b done by eye untill then -.-

yeah i dont know if it just says that those are the ph and ec on the bag but i tend not to believe those type things so to be on the safe side i rinse and saturate with phd water. If i wasnt so lazy i would reuse my coco once i harvest but it really only costs about 1$ gallon to mix a new batch of coco & perlite anyways.

Hey bro. Coco is kind. Though the ideal pH is said to be 5.8, running a pH in the 6's is also healthy, depends on what your feeding with, and what the main base is in your nutrient solutions. I feed with a line that is calcium based, and in coco I still run 6.5

What I mainly wanted to say is, feed, water, feed, water, feed, water.

Your feeding dosages seem to be healthily adequate, for now though feed every other water.

Also, I would say that you are good get that coco hydrated. I believe it needs to be damp for the roots to reach and grow.

Nice looking girl! Much love and good vibes.

UPDATE.

Just checked on my seedlings, 1 White widow & Blue hash has popped. Still 1 White widow to go..

Thermomiter fell flat on the Cotton candy! She looks ok, pics are from seconds after i removed the thermomiter.

Tiny bit more browning, yellowing is at the same level as christmas day.

I wash my coco with tap water, so the same with perlite to take all the dust off. Then runa couple of ph'd 5l bottles through each, then mix to whatever ratio I want.
