You should check online for a carbon filter as well as a fan.Vortex fans are popular yet a little more expensive, but i believe you get what you pay for . As far as carbon filter goes,i went for the cheap one and when my lady wears her perfume..we know.I have some air leaks tho,so i can't blame it 100%.I'd say go with an average price, see how it works.Also..a friendly suggestion..i've read plenty and i would say that Advanced Nutrients have very expensive yet very diluted fertilizers. All i'm sayin' is..check the market,do not fall for the pretty pics they've on.

Why do you say that?

and what would you recommend?

You are missing a means of aeration and an optional chiller (which I highly recommend).

I aerate with a powerhead aquarium pump, and chill with an Ice Probe.

AN base, while pricey, is nice because of the PH perfect. I don't agree with the above post about it being very diluted.. by comparison, you need 2x as much when using Fox Farm nutes. I've also never used nutes at full strength at any time during a grow in DWC, so be gentle.

Instead of using voodoo juice as directed, I'd brew a tea with it to stretch it out way further and use it every week, not just the first 2 of veg and flower cycles. That shit is WICKED expensive. After your bottle is gone, look into hiesenbergs tea.. it's a sticky in this sub-forum. He mentions not brewing with AN products, but it was in reference to some other additives they offer. Voodoo is fine to brew with.

If you don't use a chiller, I'd make sure to use a tea every week as a slime prevention for sure. That fucking slime is the bane of DWC.

I dont' use a chiller. I have an unused chimney, so I have connected it with some tubing to the botom of my box. A fan pulls the outside air and blows it straight at the buckets keeping them cool. On top of the bucket lids I have placed blocks of styrofoam that make a barrier and split my whole box into upper and lower parts, so lights don't heat up the res much. Everything got too cold even, so I had to put a thermostat hat activates the fan only when temps go above 19C.

I think its a great solution for whenever outside temps are below 15C. When it gets hotter, If I'm not finished with my grow, I'll buy a mobile AC unit (used ones you can find for 70$ here) and vent the warm air from the box out of the same chimney just in the other direction.

dont get a cheap pump and dont skimp on the ph/ec meters, they are a must...look into pondzyme..learn about the slime and pray...jokes..keep your temps in check you should be fine..the more you grow, the more youll learn about nutes and what You really need...

You got the best of the line up from advance stick with it, you don't need there other organic products at all or benes/carbs. If you do want to scrog I would add the bud ignitor get the small 250ml bottle you only need it weeks 1 and 2 of flowering.

I don't understand why people say advance is so expensive mabey 8 years ago it was but it's the same cost as most stuff on the market that people are using today. I have great results with this same line up and it's really easy for beginners. On small veg plants 4mil base 2mil additives works really well. for seeds new clones half that to start. big plants flower 8mil base 4mil additives is about right.
