I've just started my first DWC system. And had a few questions about it. I didn't have time to up load any pictures yet but will tomorrow. First off i have 2 12" air stones and an 18 gallon rubber maid with 6" in net pots. when i turned the pump on the water just barley seemed to break the surface... is this how it should be or should i add another pump? +rep to all that help out.. Also i'll be keeping this updated regularly.

Are there a ton of bubbles? If so, no problem. Also, are your pumps actually able to handle a 12" airstone? Most single-line pumps can't handle more than 4-6".

also how big do u plan on growing those plants, because if its kinda small u can use a smaller bucket for more effective bubbles, less water etc. good luck.

First of thank you for such a fast reply KaliKitsune! +rep to u!

I don't really know what a ton of bubbles would be since i really have never seen an actual working dwc system. but there are a lot of bubbles though. and also its a dual line air pump. Suppose to be able to handle 20-60 gallons. I was thinking of getting another one and running each stone an a pump.

If there are a lot of bubbles, and there is a fine mist coming from the top of the water, then you're fine. I was just curious. If it's rated 20-60 gallons then it can handle a 12" airstone per line no problem. I have 10 gallon rated pumps and I have 6" on them.

i have a dual port air pump connected to two airstones in an 18 gal tub. i'm probably only using about 12 gallons of water in the tub so the bubbler is fine for this. plenty of mist getting to the netpots. good luck on your grow buddy! dwc has to be the easiest way to grow!

Hey you should just stop with the res, and transfer to 5 gallon buckets.

You will get much much bigger yield...
yea this is the first attempt.. so just tryin to see how the dwc goes. if all goes well then i think thats what i'm going to do. Thanks for the advice =)
