Hey guys,
decided to grow an outdoor this year, had some trouble in the beginning with my dog eating all my seedlings so had to start late and chucked two random bag seeds and one took off and the other went really slow.. I've been watering them with worm castings and mixed blood and bone through the soil, about 4 weeks ago I started putting a bin over them so dark period is 12/12 and they started budding a couple of days after.. Wont let me upload pictures but the links bellow are pictures taken yesterday after I gave it a hair cut, as you can,see I'm pretty harsh but it thrives from it!

Do yourself a favor and dont take the fan leaves off man. They harness energy :). If you want to top early and often thats fine but do not pluck off the fan leaves. They are pretty though. Good job!

I remove the fan leaves that are in the way of lower branches and buds, and also fan leaves that do not receive light at all.
I think it's about balance with them leaves :weed:

Yeah that's how it started out, clearing some leaves out so the all the little buds down the stems would get sun but got a little carried away I reacon haha

For anyone that is reading, since i cut out the little hermie shes been going good.. Got a nice citrus smell to it first thing in the morning when i uncover her and she now has buds on all the shoots down the main branches.

na 35 is sweet as bro, as long as they have plenty of water they'll respond good to high temps especially in autumn.

sadly NZ is only getting 23-26 at the moment. UV index is still 8 or 9 though.
what're nightime temps?.

Wish I could say the same. :( still snow laying around here. Much depress.
ahh bugger, would love some snow down here during winter! Would beat it pissing with rain! Haha

yeah on days like this i gotta water her around 3 times a day, bigger pot probably would of helped it not drying out so fast, ill remember that for next year hah.. Just the last few hot days with direct sun, the ends of the pistils got a little burn and started to shrivel, apart from that she loves the sun!

nice comfortable weather, where about in nz are you? Spent a month other there two chrissys ago with the step dads family in gizzy, i remember the weather difference, it was crazy how much hotter 25 was over there then here! I loved every second of it though, amazing country.

night time temps are around 17-18 on these but can get down to 5-7 on say a 20ish degree day.. All depends on cloud cover aswell, those clear nights get coooold

Yeah they go good on days like that when they're in the ground with unlimited root space, A pure sativa would absolutely thrive in those conditions.

I'm in Tauranga, Bay of Plenty region kinda near the top of the country. I know right? a 25 day over here is considered a hot day, 30 degrees over here feels like 40 in any other country.
Egypt felt like a warm blanket in the sun but here it feels like a burning feeling, I guess that's why we get lots of skin cancer.

I'm getting around 10-15 over night temps, it's a cold year this season though. When can you grow till man?
I'm at 37.4 lat so I can grow till may, might have to push my Malawis till june this year because they're only just beginning to flower.

Aussie can get colder than my city in the winter, canberra is cold.

Yeah i bet, i had her in the ground to begin with but we got a few pines in the backyard and all the dirt is shit.. She gets nice and stinky on the hot days haha..

ah yep noice, we didn't get up that far.. Landed in Auckland and took a week and a bit to drive to gizzy, went across to whakatane (hope i spelt it right haha) then down.. Yeah its crazy, its a real dry geat like you said, it burns rather then heats you up, that'd do it! tassie quite the same, apparently the ozone layer is a lot thinner, if anything, over tas and nz so that's why its a different heat.. Well that's what ice been told anyway hahah

yeah that probably our average temp, the weather has changed its mind every day though.. Has your summer been really up and down too? Id say id be pushing it if shes goes into may, im at 35.4, what does the latitude have to do with things? To be honest i didn't really do much research before growing just tips from all the old school guys that have been growing for 30 odd years with nothing but water really.

yeah down here in SA can get pretty cold, especially in the hills

you could maybe transplant it into some good soil to finish off?

Yeah Tauranga is close to whakatane, all these maori names are hard to spell lol.
I'd say Tassie has a similar climate to NZ, our summer has been weird this season with cold mornings earlier this year.

How cold does it get in may over there?. Latitude is how far away you sit from the equator, the higher up you are the faster your plants kick into flower because the daylight hours are less the further north you go. 35.4 is 222km closer to the equator than me. my daylight hours are 12:30 the moment.

I tend to leave all the fan leaves on the plant outside for more photosynthesis, indoors is different though.

I get 8 degree lows in may and 18 degree highs on average, should be enough to push my pure sativas to the end.

cheers mate! im pretty happy with her for my first grow.. yeah ive deffinatly learn a few things so far and that was one of them! haha she effinatly slowed down a shit load after i took that many leaves off, now thinking about it im glad she didnt get massive i dont really have much privacy where i am, wire fences and nosey neighbours haha

yeah i got some decent soil from the old boy next door and mixed up somthing good enough for her in that red container shes in now, once i moved her into that it took off like crazy, should be alright to finish her off..

i thought it souned familiar, haha yeah some of the names are pretty nuts, took mum a while to get the hang of wh's being f's hahah
yeah its pretty damn close, 25 down there is like 30 odd up here, goes from one extreme to the other down there hot as when its sunny and snows when its not! lol
may can be really up and down but can be anywhere from 13 and raining and 25 and sunny, over night will be getting down under 10 almost every night though.. ahh cheers bud, ive seen people talking about it a few times but never what effect it has on the plant.. in my state were half way through daylight savings, so sun comes up around 6.30-6.45 and goes down around 8ish, which is why i started putting a bin over the plant to start her flowering, still a little bit to go till daylight is 12 hours.. haha yeah deffinatly got carried away with the fan leave and have learned my lesson, shes slowed down heaps and has almost started vegging up the braches again but theres more and more little buds growing on the shoots

Yep, try bending the branches a bit every day until they are where you want them.
i used to supercrop but a gentle downwards pull once a day does the same thing.
sometimes they do crimp but the good thing is they never crack open with this gentle technique.
The effect is you get a shorter bushier plant and lots of colas and the entire canopy is exposed to sun.
i actually figured it out on accident, but much better than taking off fan leaves.

yeah when she was still in the ground and it was growing straight up I pulled all the branches out and tried them down lightly with fishing line, now she has 5 main colas instead of looking like a Christmas tree lol i just didn't bother doing it again once i transplanted her cause it seemed to work pretty well.. Ill deffinatly get onto some super crop for next time though cheers!
