first grow, any advice appreciated

heyeveryone, I've been on this site for a little while now but never posted anything. figured I'd start now, any advice is appreciated as this is my first grow.

I put my seeds in jiffy seed pods on the 5th of December and here is where I have them now. I have some yellowing occurrig
which I believe is nitrogen toxicity, I've flushed them with clean water until it was just running out of the pots. the fan leaves have now stood up a little more and seem happier. my nutes I started with is technaflora recipe for success. I've given nutes a total of 2 times now and haven't for about a week due to my yellow leaves. my soil is foxfarm happy frog. they are in 1 gallon pots under a 600 watt hps. would be mh but I can' afford to go get a new bulb right now. I'll switch to 1000w hps when I start to flower. I've had a box fan on them since birth haha. pretty thick stems. 3x white rhino 3x g13 haze 3x strawberry cough. this about sums up the start of my first grow. let me know what you guys think! also, if you want more pictures.

water ph is 6.4-6.6 based off from the test strips that you dip in your water, I can't imagine those are terribly accurate. I will be getting on testers soon.

What's up fellow farmer? Congrats on getting your feet wet and greening up that thumb. Since I read you've recently flushed them I'll assume these pictures were taken while they're still drying out so that's why the leaves are droopy. You might be able to let the soil feed them for a while and then ease them back into feedings. That'll hopefully give them time to rebound and continue growing strong and healthy. Otherwise, good luck and happy growing. I'll be stopping by to see how you're progressing. Peace and Bountiful Harvest!

thank you for your reply, but even before the flush the leaves were kind of droopy. I have an air cooled good pulling the heat away with 435 cfm. the lamp is about 10 inches away, could that be a problem? I tho l 435 cfm would be enough to get the heat away.

When my plants experience heat issues it's normally expressed through leaves curling up from the outside in. When my leaves are droopy it's either too much water in which case you allow them to dry out or they need watering. The best suggestion I can give you is to do the hand test to make sure it's not to hot and let the plants sit for a couple days and see how they do. When you water them again, you can do the pot test in which you feel the weight of the pot after you've watered so that'll help be a gauge on knowing when to water them. Some strains like more water and nutrients than others.

You are off to a great start!
We can talk about a lot of things.
The 1st thing that comes to mind is your 1 gallon pots. It looks like it is time to transplant. Do you have plans to transplant soon? To what size pots? Going to use Happy Frog or something else to fill in the new pots?

Note: I just read Joe Blows Trees last post and will add, if your lights are 10" away it would not hurt to raise them 2 to 4 inches. The plants may like it better.

When you water and the pot sits in the run off you may find the medium stays wet for a bit longer than desired, can bring on that overwatered look. I prefer to have them raised on plant trays upside down so the run off doesn't get soaked back up.

Also do get yourself a MH for next crop, the closer those internodes stay in veg the better they stack in flower for tighter bigger colas.

I didn't look very close at all of the pictures the 1st time when I posted the above comment.
The plants are smaller than I thought when I said it is time to transplant.
I do think from the pics, your light is to close stressing the leaves and should be raised a few inches.

the entire room temperature is 73 degrees, the temp directly under the light with the plants is about 85. but there is a lot of open space, I'm not in a tent or anything. just the corner of my bedroom. some panda film wrapped around a 3x6 frame that I built. only using 3x3 of it. but only 3 sides are covered and the top is completely open.

well I just transplanted* to 5 gallon arora root pots. I'll update pics as soon as I can they are in shock right now. also, when stopping into the grow store, they gave me a sample of mammoth p. any good reviews on this stuff? And what ratio would I mix with a gallon of water? And is it for veg and flower or just flower? or just veg? not much info on the stuff.

I'd say Google it and read/watch reviews on it both good and bad and make a decision for yourself along with maybe trying it on a solo plant and seeing how you like it's performance.

Try using a compost tea when you transplant. It should lessen the shock and they should adjust a little faster. Just a suggestion that works for me.
