First grow. Pot of Gold (I think)

Here it is, after lurking on these forums for about a month now, I have decided to make a thread of my first grow ever. PLEASE feel free to give me any advice. Just so you know, the current pc stealth veg box I have going on is extremely temporary, my girl's new home will be up to snuff, and ready for her to move into in a few days time.

My first mistake, I lined the pc case with aluminum foil shiny side out. My second mistake, I had bought miracle gro potting soil, but after reading countless threads I went out and bought some fox farm ocean forest. Third and hopefully final mistake, I lined my babies NEW home with Mylar, although better than foil I heard flat white paint or even plain white paper would work much better.

I am going for a 100% completely organic grow. Both the soil AND nutes/ferts will be 100% organic. I pour regular tap water through a brita container and then let it sit open for 24 hours to let all the chlorine evaporate out of it. Right now I am using one single 100 watt daylight CFL.
Not the best choice for veg I recently found. I have a second 100 watt daylight cfl, but am waiting until her final home is 100% complete until I install both lights.

So, since this is a journal here is where I am now.
Seedling/Vegetative Stage.
24hrs. of light

Monday September 14, 2009 11:47 P.M.
I have just planted the germinated seed into my flower pot filled with Fox Farm Ocean Forest potting soil.
I sprinkled the top of the soil with some water. Will leave light on until 5:45 P.M. tomorrow.

Tuesday September 15, 2009
I turned the lights off at 4:30 today, and turned them back on at around 8:45-9:30. For now on I will keep
the light on until 4:30, then give them 4 hours of dark. For now on the plant will get 4 instead of 6 hours of darkness.

Saturday September 26, 2009
Coming on 2 weeks this Monday and have seen significant growth. There are already 2 fully formed elaves with
about 6 others starting to form. It has grown to about 5 inches and looking good.

Wednesday September 30, 2009
I have decided to germinate 3 more seeds to increase my chances at getting a female. They have popped, and will be
ready to be planted in their temporary home by tomorrow.

Just went to lowes today looking for some kind of lighting fixtures to set up in my babies new home. Since I am in no way a qualified electrician i decided to pick up 2 more clamp lamps to go with the one I already have. I also found this neat little 75 watt yellow cfl "bug light". I think the yellow light mixed with my 100 watt daylight cfl's will make my plant happy. :) The 75 watt bulb in the pic is not the bulb I'm using, the bulbs I'm using are 100 watts. but exact same brand and everything. What do you guys think, is the yellow light a waste of money? Or do you think it could make my plant happy? :eyesmoke:

Thanks so much for the reply. I did have a question I have been searching, when I start feeding it nutrients what are the best organic brands to go with? And are nutes and ferts the same thing? And when should I start on the nutes? Sorry for so many questions but I will continue to look up threads until it sticks lol. This is what I made up my mind with going into flowering "Big Bloom Liquid Concentrate" from fox farms. ANY other recommendations are very much appreciated. Since this is a 100% organic grow I'd like to use all organic nutes as well. Thanks! <(^^<) (^**^) (>^^)>

Thank you Mr. Therapy Man. The leaves on yours seem to be a bit fatter than mine. The guy I bought the bud the seeds came in told me it was pot of gold, and he's pretty knowledgeable. But I'm wondering if mine is in fact that strain. Thanks for the pics I appreciate it. I guess we'll hopefully find out once and for all wha it is soon. :)

You will need to start your nutes around 3 weeks in that soil only has enough nutes for 3 weeks of feeding. and as for what type of nutes I like fox farm they have 3 pack kit that you can get for soil (make sure it is for soil not hydro) it has everything you need to get going check amazon or your local hydro store. And don't forget to tip the scale at the top of each reply if you like the post or find it helpful. Its kinda like giving props it helps build reputation on this site. Thanks:blsmoke:

Thank you for the info and the heads up. I repped you and Mr. Therapy Man. I will hopefully have my plants moved into their new home tonight. I will post many pics when they move. :) Thanks again for your help guys, I'm very green and am afraid even with all the research I'm doing will act as if I need my hand held sometimes just to make sure what I'm doing is right lol.

It is all good buddy i am the same way i have not grown anything in about 7 years and I am in the begining of my first grow since then so i know the feeling:mrgreen: i have bought books and been up here and other sites reserching all I can find out, and I still feel like I need a little help here and there, so feel free to ask as many questions as you like that is what this site is for to hold your hand while you grow:blsmoke:

anyone have an idea of what the sex may be? I checked again today when the lights went on and it still looks about the same. I'm really hoping it isn't a male but that sure looks like the beginnings of a pollen sack to me. :(

Ok guys, I am fairly certain she is in fact a he. I would really appreciate any feedback but I took more pics today. I'm confused. I see what appear to be lil seed pods in the making, but I also see what appear to be buds forming. I took many, many pics. (Took me almost an hour to get these pics since my camera takes FOREVER to focus) lol my arms are tired. PLEASE any info would be greatly appreciated. Male, or Hermie?:-(

If it is a Hermie, should I still grow it? he/it is my only plant, i got 3 babies vegging for just this scenario but I've already put so much time and love into it. What do you guys think?

It turned out to be a male. :( I still have 3 babies vegging and will move them into the male's growbox. I am going up to worm's way later to buy a new bag of Fox Farm ocean forest and 2 new pots. I will be transplanting them from the plastic cups they are in now to their final homes. I will update with pics of them in their new home and containers later today. A significant set back but I will keep on keeping on! :)

yeah it is a male for sure i would get it away far away from the other plants cause if those pollen sacks open it will ruin your other three fast!!!!!!!! but keep up the growing

Woops I forogt to add that I did in fact remove the male today, in a somewhat somber ceremony. I couldn't make it up to worm's way today to grab another bag of fox farm ocean forest because of the weather, but I should be able to get it tomorrow. I'll also pick up another pot because I'm pretty sure my babies are already rootbound in the burger king cups I put them in lol. I'll update with pics tomorrow, stay tuned. And thanks for the support. :)
