First Grow - questions

Hello RIU

This is going to be my first grow I have a few questions regarding growing.

What does the PH have to be at, I see a lot of people going on about PH burns and stuff.

I will be using Hydroponics, when can I put them in the Hydroponic's system? Do I just grow them in soil until there 'x' amount weeks old and are safe to go in to Hydroponics?

If there are any more questions I will ask below as I have forgot what other stuff I was meaning to ask.

I have a nice 8 plant hydro set-up I have spent like $700+ on this set-up I want to gain a lot of knowledge so everything runs smooth as possible.

Thanks for your help guys, it's much appreciated.

Starting seeds in rockwool would me easier than soil. Even coco or perlite would be easier on you. If you start in dirt you will have to carefully remove the plant and wash all soil off before putting it into hydro.

Ph. around 5.8

I just put the seed straight into the hydroton (clay pellets), its best read as much and learn as much if your really interested. if not then you should find a recipe and follow, like cooking

Interesting. Does this work?

I always go with rapid rooter and aerocloner, wait for good rooting to occur, then I transplant to the pellets. It's a pretty safe tried and true method :)

I used "Rapid Root" grow plugs. The plugs have all the rooting hormone in them for seedling or cuttings to root there easy to root in and put into your net pots. I used L.E.C.A-light expanded clay agragate around the plug. You can grow in just the LECA. The grow plugs are just easier.

Good man. You know about them rapid rooters!! :D They work waaaaaay good with an aerocloner as well.

If you have a few extra bucks and the space, an AeroGarden works wonders for starting seeds. I get 95 to 100% germ rates. No hassles.

This is true as well. Basically any little pro aero cloning machine is the way to go. Like he said, 95-100% success rate, that is TRUTH. I say mine is 99% but... yeah 95-100% is dead on.

Thanks for the replies, I do have coco-soil. I thought I had rock-wool coming in the package but it appears none is here?
I am currently out of money so I am unable to get an aerospace thing.
I have 5 feminized cheese, and 3 amnesia haze there currently germinating in two plates together with damp tissue in a mild space.

Also, do you guys know how much nutrients I put in to the hydro system itself? I have canna nutrients.

You will run into problems if you don't budget for the unexpected. Shit DOES happen, so make sure you have some money set aside just in case.

That's a bit too broad of a question. That all depends on strain, plant health, veg/transition/bloom, etc. It varies man but what I can tell you is too much is a bad thing. Start low and work your way up. Youll have to do a bit of trial and error it sounds like. I would rather fix a deficiency over nute burn any day, so.. Start out very light and work your way up.

I guess you're right, thanks for the information.

When do I stick them in to the clay pebbles hydro set up from coco?

Anytime. That is why I am on rollitup. This community has helped me A LOT so I owe it to the new people to help them out. I wasn't exactly new when I got here but I have learned a great deal from this website. Read all the stickies and journals you can. Knowledge is HUGE!! The more you know, the more you'll grow. Straight up!

What's this coco you speak of? Dirt?

I go directly from aero-cloner to clay pebbles. I clone with a rapid rooter and transplant rooter and all into the hydroton when I am ready for my "veg cycle"

do you have the auto-feed/hydro when it's in the pebbles?

Sorry I am totally new to this, and have kind of jumped straight in the deep-end with a $800 set-up ;-)

i have Wilma, you just stick the tube in and it drips it in shall i not add nutes as it'll be young? after how long do you stick it in the pebbles from seedling?

I don't do seeds. My aero-cloner has clones ready in about 7 days. I make my cut, get my clone, stick it in a rapid rooter. the aero cloner is under 24/7 light and the water cycle runs 1 time a day for 30 minutes.

7-10 days and they will have about 5 inches of root hanging out of the rapid rooter. That's when I transplant it into my hydro system.

When they are young, you give them less nutes. Reason being, nutes are absorbed by the roots. The more roots, the more nutes. So, in the beginning, you'll be very low. They'll be very sensitive... but after they develop their root mass, they can start absorbing more nutes thus producing more plant. New growers are so focused on foliage.. advanced growers focus on roots.. plants build roots first, then foliage. So.. if you have bad ass roots, you should have a bad ass plant.

So.. don't nuke your shit, make sure the plant has enough root space, and ease into the PPM's.
