First grow room, need some suggestions

Hi everyone,

I'm interested in starting up my own grow room and while I've been reading different ideas and methods, I still can't decide on what the best method would be for my case. I'm not looking for anything on a massive scale, I only want a couple plants for personal consumption. I've included a layout of two rooms that I could put it in, though there are more rooms, i would prefer to keep it in the smaller of the two shown.

My main concern is smell, since I am in an apartment building, and stealth would be nice, so people coming over wouldn't know what was going on. I was thinking maybe a scrog method, though I'm wondering how strong the smell would be from something like that. I know you can buy filters and such, but Im trying to do this on the cheap for the first time until I get the hang of it.

I was also thinking of buying a wardrobe and growing it all in there, though I would prefer to keep it in the closest, maybe with the rubbermaid tote box. I'm pretty much looking to just get some input on what people would do in my case. I can't really do a whole lot of modification to the walls and stuff since I'm renting. Thanks for everyone's input.

Got some questions..

you want to keep it in the 5 x 4 room, right? How high is that? I am asking that to see what kind of height you're working with and to calculate cubic feet for atmosphere control.

Did you want to grow year round or part time? I am asking this to see if you'll need to plan for cloning and mother plants.

are you familiar with the grow process? Have you decided on soil or hydro?

You should check this out:

The room is about 8 feet high, with some shefling along the sides at just over 3 feet and at 7 feet. I'd like to not use the whole room, but a small portion, maybe the 3 feet under the shelf. 2 ft plants is probably all im looking for.

As for now, I'm planning on growing all year round, so I was looking into doing cloning. When you say growing part time, am I right in assuming you would mention producing seeds?

I've been reading up and watching videos on how to grow, so I'm fairly familiar with it, but any tips are always appreciated, especially what a good first time plant is, and I've decided on soil, but after seeing that guide you posted, I'm swaying towards hydro lol. Looks to easy to build to pass up. But for now let's assume either.

I understand you would like to keep it on the inexpensive side, but you might wan't to check in to grow tents. easy controled atmosphere with vents and 100% light proff. Any guest that my look will most likly think its a portable closest for clothes. Just a thought

Those look pretty cool actually. I might have to look up some hydroponic stores in my area and see if they sell any of those.

Does anyone know of any resellers in canada that sell the tents for decent prices? Most of them are way overpriced.

Best thing to do is go online, I picked one up from a company here in the UK and it was 1.5m x 1.5m x 2m. They are easy to set up and being light proof, flame proof....... cant really go wrong with them. Far easier to control as well.
