First Grow...Should I start 12/12 now?

Hey everyone,
I'm new to this forum and growing in general but I was hoping one of you would be able to let me know if I should think about switching my lights to HPS and over to a 12/12 time setting soon. I've had these clones rooted for 27 days now. They recently were transplanted but seem to be recovering fine from it. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks...Ya I was planning on letting it go maybe another 10 days max. They are Indica (cheese) so I heard that they might only grow 50% of current height when they flower as opposed to a sativa which could more then double...again i'm just looking to you guys for help because this is all new to me. Popcorn900 is there any links to somewhere on this forum that I could find a place to learn how to tie them down or super crop them? Otherwise I might just let them ride how they are and just tinker more my second time around. Thanks!

when my plants get to tall i just take some string and gently pull them down or off to the side i do a little at a time, i believe supper cropping is when u either snap the top by bending it over till u hear snap of take them stem between ur fingers and snap them like that i like to fim and thats where u top the main shoot but u leave behind a little bit instead of topping the whole thing totally up to u though tieing down i believe is less stressful

I played around with fimming two of them topping another two and just leaving two alone. I just dont want to do too much my first grow so I can tell what works better for the next time. Is 6 plants too many for the space I'm in? 2x4x5...They seem fine now but I figure when they flower it is going to be a mess.

Wow that looks awesome...Is there any problems with shadows casting from the sativas to the indicas as far as final yeilds? Also do they finish around the same time? Ideally I would love to have 2 or 3 of each in my tent but I'm just nervous the sativas would grow so fast that by the time I should start to flower them the indicas wouldn't be ready and I would just be wasting a lot of space in my tent.

if you just transplanted them I would wait 2 wks. Always give ur plants at least 2 wks, to adjust to the shock. Trust me if ur plant has transplant shock and then switch photoperiod might just shock em into doing something unnatural. Looks like u hav enough room to give it 2 more weeks of veg. Good luck bro! In optimal conditions if height and space is not an issue, you would probably want to vegetate your cannabis plant for 60 days or more before switching it over to flowering. This gives your plant plenty of time to grow big (so you get bigger yields), and allows new growers to dial in their grow before plants enter the sensitive flowering stage. In the vegetative stage, it is easy to recover from problems, but problems are a lot more serious in the flowering stage, where mistakes can dramatically hurt your final yields. :mrgreen:

I always thought that you should always give no less then 60 days of flowering until my buddy's showed me this articular :::: "Some growers feel that a marijuana plant which has been grown from seed will not produce as many buds or have enough resin production if the plant is not given at least 60 days in the vegetative stage to mature before it's changed over to the flowering stage. This is not true. many growers initiate flowering soon after germinating a seed in order to keep plants small and short. This is often called "12-12 from seed." Just remember, no matter what you do, a young cannabis plant will not start flowering until it is 2-3 weeks old. Even if you put a seed on a 12-12 schedule from the beginning, it will not start properly budding for about 3 weeks. When growing with cannabis clones, age is not an issue and growers can switch directly to flowering once your clone has established roots. This is because even though a clone may be small, it's still a 'mature' plant since it is made of a piece from a mature plant. Rooted clones tend to grow much faster for the first few weeks than plants grown from seed. In any case, age is not much of an issue, and you should switch your light schedule at the time that best fits your needs." This cleared up allot of confusion for me, hope it will do the same for you. :mrgreen:

Ya that should help...I didn't know you could flower them so young. I have clones and they are all mature and showing the little white hair on every node split. I'm excited to see what these will produce for buds. I do want to try to grow a sativa the next time around though so knowing I came put them into flowering so young will help a lot because height is an issue for my tent.

with it being your first grow I wouldnt super crop or anything. You only have a few plants so very manageble. Just get some bamboo rods and tie the plants to them gently for support and maximum light penetration to the lower budsites. This wont stress the plants at all and looking at your set up its what i would do.

i would switch right now.... u dont want it to be so packed that it is difficult for the air to circulate... also what size is your tent and what lights are you using.... ?

Size of the tent is 2x4x5 and i'm using a 400w MH bulb but switching it out today for a HPS.

I would go ahead and switch to 12/12 now. It will get really crowded half way through flowering. Some strains stretch 3x their size and some not so much. If you were familiar with that strain then you would know how far you could let them go.
