First grow,

This is my first post here at rollitup. I decided it would be a good time and check in with some more experienced growers to gauge how i'm progressing.

This is my very first grow. It's been 3wks since first sprout surfaced. I'm using a stealthy growbox that I built, that is approx 2sq.ft in girth and about 2ft tall. right now I have three 20watt cfl close to the plants, when they mature i had planned on making a fixture at the very top of the box with 4 20watt "Daylight" bulbs and 2 20watt "warm" bulbs. i hear it makes for better flowering?

So, my questions are how do my plants look? and about when should I start flowering, I have a little less than about a foot and a half of vertical growing space. My worry is that if I start to flower too late they will grow too large for the box before i can harvest. is that a rational fear? I was planning on setting up a scrog screen to keep them low and increase yield. is that a good idea?

Any other input would be greatly appreciated. this is my first grow. I've been feeding them water from my aquarium every three days or so, not using fertilizer yet, but when i do i have this nice bonzai soil fert that i was going to use. has lower levels of PKN, but also has all kinds of micro nutrients, so i figured it would be good to use since i have it on hand anyways.

Welcome to the site. Get ready to learn a lot from here, there are many awesome experts around here to learn from.

First off, your plants look good. Good job. I would get those lights closer to the plants though for now. You also want more warm bulbs than daylight bulbs in the flowering phase. Bulbs with 2700K spectrum color are the best for flowering, and it would be good to through in a few 6500k's for flowering.

SOG would be a great idea for you. I've never done it yet, so I can't help you out. You can also top the plants, that will help with height.

When you decide to flower, keep in mind the plant can double or triple in size. Depends if it's a sativa or indica really, as sativa's can get tall fast.

They look great, good job. I think that if your grow box is 2 ft tall then your plants will definetely out grow it during flowering. You can start flowering now, or veg for another week or 2. Either way i'd set up a taller box. When you switch to flowering get some 2700k or "warm white" bulbs. Good luck!

I have two 20 watt 2700k cfls ready to go. Will the plants still benefit from the 6500k or should I go all out warm 2700k? I was thinking I'd do both, four 6500k, and two 2700k using this grow light fixture setup.

The size of my growbox is limited by the size of my apartment, we literally have no room, and this was the only shape/placement i could think of where it wouldn't be in the way. Stealth by needs of convenience, not because I need to hide it. I just have no room for anything bigger.

So should i start veg immediately? the pics maybe a how much can i expect my plants to grow during flowering? are we talking tripling in size? doubling? approximately? can't i control height by training it around a scrog or should i trim it back when it begins to inflate?

Yes you can use 6500k with the 2700k for flowering. During flowering the plants have been known to double in size. You could let it veg a couple more weeks and then top it, this would make your plant short but bushy and would work great for your amount of space

they look good.. flower them now if you want. but as said before- watch out those plants will double or triple in size. they will definately outgrow that 2ft grow space. get as many cfls as you can in there- 2700k

what strain are you growing? or is it a random bagseed?
