Hey gents and ladies.
I'm 29 days into my first serious grow that isn't bag seeds in my closet under a 25 watt incandescent when I was 13 that wouldn't grow for some reason. Ive read Jorge Cervantes Bible and keep reading it over. I think things are going ok, but I have some problems and questions. I have 4 fem AK 48 plants and 3 nirvana mysteries. I used plugs in a humidity dome to germinate and damaged trying to put back a few that heaved out, and one of the 48''s cotylodon was stuck in the membrane and died. Oh well. Less may be easier to manage.
I moved them from under the flouros to a 600 watt hid 6 days ago. Of course 2 days after I put them under the halide we have a heat wave and the ac in my building semi shorts. This should be fixed in a few days. Alright, I'm kinda rambling, I'll post my specs and pics and move on to my questions.
OK I have-
-6.5x6.5x8 walk in closet. I have an 8" 730 in line pulling air in through a hole I made through the wall into an adjacent closet in my bedroom. Venting through another 8 inch I spliced into the intake ducting for my apt in the ceiling crawlspace. Using large carbon scrubber on exhaust and a smaller one in the room just to be safe. I'm doing it this way because I can't run ducting out the window or have a visible grow tent. Twice yearly exterminator inspections (people had bed bugs), apparently they're pretty proactive in this building. He knows I'm clean and just pops in and out, think it's no problem. Sound isn't penetrating walls much, running a box fan in my bedroom overpowers it.
-7 29 day old plants- 4 AK 48 and 3 nirvana ?'s.
-Pots are 3 gal. I mixed 25 pounds of roots organic with 25 of fox farm ocean forest. (Didn't know how much I'd need, got the ocean cheap later)
-light is 600 watt digital hps/sodium dimmable, running at 100%. Using 18/6 cycle.
-I'm using ro water with fox farms trio, following cannibus feeding chart and adjusting pH to 6.8. Started getting cal/mag deficiency. Added 1 tsp epsom to gallon of water today, cal mag supplements coming in a few days.
-temp is 82 high 79 light off. Rh is 40-50. Temp will come down when ac is repaired.
Do they look about right for day 29?
That is a cal/mag deficiency, right? It started a few days ago. That's the worst one, but there's other more subtle symptoms.
Another question I had is I can't find pre flowers. Cervantes says they appear first when the 4th node develops. These have 6/7 nodes. Other info I found says after the 4th week, so they probably are just starting now? Is this normal? I'm using 20x and see nothing.
Another problem was with a faulty timer. In the second week the light cycle was totally random before I noticed. When I started 24/0 for 3 days, i soon switched to 18/6 when the ac went down to manage heat. WI'll this light cycle instability cause problems in development?
Am i on the right track so far? Im sure theres plenty i didnt think to post. Any input and advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys
