First Harvest - Considering it a Success

Howdy All -

I am calling my first harvest complete and a success. From the culling of the males, a few mistakes in the cycle, and final chopping, I'm now smoking some good bud.

Learned alot from many here, and after three days of drying and almost 3 weeks of curing, the material is pretty dang good tasting and has a very nice front loaded kick.

For drying, I followed the procedure that Serapis has been referencing in all the dry\cure threads and it's turning out freaking sweet. 3 days of hanging around 60F and humidity hanging around 35-40%, using a hygrometer and seeing the cycle start from 70RH falling gradually to 60RH over three weeks - stuff is nice.

Just wanted to post up a nice positive result and thank everyone for such good information.

Here we go, sorry, should have posted these up originally, heh. The one plant yielded 2oz after drying - I know it's not a spectacular yield compared to experienced growers, but I was quite happy with it, being the first grow! (PS - The humidity levels shown in the one pic is immediately after jarring, it went up to just past 70RH after about half a day - and there was one quart and one pint jar filled).

There's nothing better than following the process from seed to finished, tasty, worthy smoke. Congrats on your first harvest! Each one should get better and that's the point of learning, well done!

well sir, it looks like you have successfully grown, harvest and cured some good bud. just looking at that picture of the buds on the stems. my plant has way more than that so now i am really excited because you said you got 2 ounces...wow.

im coming up on my first real harvest too, so i hope mine is as successful as yours.

looks nice. great job.

Thanks Guys! The 2oz was when they were first put into the jars, so I'm sure that with additional moisture loss and a bit more trimming (I left very small stem portions on, so I could handle the buds easier when pulling out of the jars) the final yield was probably closer to 1.5oz.

It sure feels good to smoke what you've grown by your own hand. Vegging a second run now... :)

Good job, but you said you dried for 3 days?
Should be at least 7-10 days
I hear you. But, the humidity level was very low in my closet, so I didn't want to dry them too much. Since then, I 've purchased a humidifier with digital controls, so I can extend the drying time out further. I have a clone of the original plant, a full moon strain from Nirvana, and a couple AK48's going now - so I'll have another series to dry\cure down the road. :)
