i've researched this for 2 weeks.....

you can do many many many many things like salt, pellets, sprays yattta yatta yatta....

dude the best way is to get a bowl.... dig a small hole into the ground.... (be sure its not to deep.... we've been getting alot of rain you dont want the rain getting into the bowl....) fill this bowl full of beer..... take a concaved object to place over the bowl like a shovel head upside down.... ya know water will roll off the thing instead of pooling in the middle.....

damn diesel got me again.. haha peace

Best method I have found is a piece of cooper wire on the ground around the trunk not touching and a little grow room. They won't cross the wire and if they do it will kill the little bastards. You still might have some slugs on the plants so it is going to take awhile to see if it is working. Good Luck:joint:

Go look at your plants after dark with a flashlight and you'll see them if the problem is slugs (and some other pests who operate at night to avoid natural predators). I've had problems with slugs, an image is attached that looks like damage to your #9, and while the beer works, it takes a long time (and a lot more damage) before you'll get get ahead of them.

I'm an organic grower and spray everything with Safer Pest Killer. I buy it in a concentrate form and use a pump sprayer. I lose the weed smell, which I truly miss, but in a perverse manner I like seeing dead slugs next to my plants and put up with the Safer odor. (no association with Safer). Make sure you use a sprayer that's never had Roundup or other herbicide in it.

Use Slugbait pellets, and hand pick the slugs on a rainy day. Kitty litter works on slugs too, it drys the fuckers out.

I use cow manure, from an organic dairy (25% in my soil mix), $15 for a 1/2T pickup load. The major problem I have with bagged commercial cow/steer manure is most dairies and feed lots use some serious chemicals to enhance milk production and put weight on steers. But if you're not growing organic it shouldn't make any difference to you.

The only nutrients I use during veg, due to the cow manure in my soil, is a light shot of diluted fish emulsion once a week.

My plants were three months from germination on 7-8.

hows it goin everybody. so i went out today and went to refill the beer cans and see how they did still slug problem im guessing my area has millons of slugs as it is a creekside dont know if they like the areas but i had one water bottle and 3 beer cans the water bottle had around 50 and the beer cans only had a couple anybody know y? but i put some copper wire around the stalks i didnt know how much so i made 8 inch strips around each one should that be enough?? forgot my sevin dust wasnt thinking right this morning but tommarrow i will bring that out ... and anybody know of a good fertilizer or nutes that u could spread on the ground and let the rain water in ? as it rains atleast once every 4 days here ???

Use slug shields. They work and they last all season. Like, put them on and forget about slugs for the rest of the season. You can get them online and they ship quickly. They also stretch with plant growth. No brainer - they figured this one out for us. No maintenance!

I used them last season. My plants got eaten nearly to death - 90% gone in 2 nights! Put the shields on and two days later the leaves were growing again and continued to flourish - it stopped the slugs! Clear sailing the rest of the way.
