Yeah if they're that dry they might be ready for smoking! Unless there is mold it should be safe

cool. Yeah, no mold. It was too dry for that lol. I have really low humidity in the winter, like static electric dry lol. Sucks. But I see no white mold, just dried plant matter. So, I am going to dry em for a few days, and start the flush. Will flush for a week if I can, without losing the main cola's. If they start getting bad, I will just cut. I am only concerned about the flush because I want no nasty nute taste. lol.

ok I have some pictures of the buds I picked/cut off. Hopefully it will show what I am talking about. The tops of the buds are ok, but underneath of them, is dead, falling off, brittle, etc. I have them in a small cardboard box in a dark room, heat about 73 or so. Is that ok? I don't want them to dry too fast, but I am concerned about 1 thing: I did just feed her like 1 day before I cut these off. That won't hurt me when I smoke right? lol.

Nah it won't hurt you. It might just taste a little harsh. But since the stems are so dry, the nutes probably didn't get fully absorbed by the buds, I'm guessing. Only one way to find out lol. Anyway, i can see some frostiness in a few of those buds man, congrats on your first harvest dude! Remember, if they're crispy, they're dry enough to smoke or cure (put in a jar to improve flavor).

hello all. Hi homer371! I gave those buds to a friend for his birthday, didn't really get much of a smoke report from him, but oh well. I was told he was happy, so that's good. I am going to have to just chop her tonight. I think I for sure waited too long to harvest. Should have done it a week or so ago. ah well, live and learn. I will try my best to get some good pics up tonight after I chop her down. more of her buds are dying, and I don't want the whole darn thing to just go poof! into dead buds. so chopping tonight.

hey allforit, yeah it sounds like it would be a good idea to chop as soon as you can. sorry if my advice led you to wait longer than you should've at the end... honestly i was going by the look of the pistils, but i guess the bigger picture was that the whole plant was suffering, there weren't enough green leaves left to feed the plant, and the stems were drying out. i was trying to help you get the most potent buds you could, bro! hopefully you still get some decent smoke out of this run, and i'm sure if you try again your next grow will go much smoother . by the way, i started my second grow if you wanna check it out (top link in my sig).

anyway, good luck with the rest of your harvest bro, and let me know how the smoke goes and what your plans are for grow #2 . i'm sure you'll be able to use all the lessons from this grow to avoid lock-out and other issues and get much better results!!

hippysmoke, ya, she had more issues . Not sure why though. I was watering her with pH'ed water, right around 6.2 to 6.4, and I was feeding her every other watering. The soil got really compacted again too, where I would water, and the water would pool up on the top of the soil real bad for the first few minutes, then leach down. Ah well, live and learn! And I have!
homer371, hey! U did great! Your advice was good, as I was going by the look of the pistils too! Just for some reason, they didn't turn color like they should have. By now, all of those pistils should have been turning brown/red and receding, it's been in flower for 4 and 1/2 months! wow. Long fraking time. But something happened, and I think it might be because I had that bad lockout, and I didn't use the right nutes during veg stage. It's all good. It's weird, I still have some pink/purple pistils lol.
I will have more tonight after I choppy choppy! Pics will be included. I will hang them up by the stems in the grow box, it's dark in there, and about 75 degrees to 80 most of the time. Will that be ok? It's in the closet, do I need to keep the door open for air, or can I shut both the cabinet door and the closet door? I'm not sure how to dry this plant lol. I do have mason jars for the cure, and I know to burp them once a day for about what, 10 mins or so? Stir them a round a bit, check for mold, etc. Is that right?

A good cure is like an art more thana science therefore hard to teach without being there but basically dry to the point to where the outside of the medium size to smallish buds feel dry then seal em up in a mason jar in a cool dark place and burp once a day for a week or two until they are evenly dried then lay them to rest for a while to allow the starchs and nonactives to convert to thc's cbd's cbn's yada yada

Yeah, the only thing I'd add is to not over dry. When I dried, I had a fan blowing in the closet with the door closed and it made the buds dry a little too fast (3 days instead of the desired 5), so next time I would do it without ventilation. Your buds might already be kinda dry to begin with, I'm guessing, so it probably won't take long until they're ready for the jars! The burping you suggested sounded pretty good, and just feel for any dampness when you move the buds around. If they're pretty moist (which I doubt will happen) then you can leave them out of the jar for an hour or so.

I have an idea about what may have happened and this is just an idea. Folks that have been there doen that feel free to shoot this out of the watter if ti makes no sense whatsover. allforit, I think your plant may have cannibalized itself. Im not sure why but it may be that it didnt have enough energy producing leaves during the flowering stage so it ate itself. That may also be why you were seeing new growth within the buds themselves. Just a thought. This is all al learning process for all reading this for the most part. Fire away for those that are really in the know.

Hello All! Sorry it took so long to get here, been a weird nite. Anyhoo, yes, I chopped her down. And I was fine with it. So that's good. lol. I do have pics! Here they are!



So there she is, Estella, all hung to dry. I did notice that her buds are very hard. Feel very firm. That's a good thing. I will have a smoke report here in a few days, gotta tell ya how she does for sure! Also, I want to put up some pics on here once it's cured a bit, for comparison and all that.
So this isn't the end! I'm not going to thank every1 for joining in just yet, cause I'm not done lol. I keep wanting to lol.
So many replies here today, and I am a bit out of it right now, been having bad anxiety all day. But it's all good. I think. lol. But I did read all of your replies, and I thank all of you, I will be sure to not dry it too fast, and I think the part about it cannibalizing itself is spot on. I know it isn't bugs, because there are none, and it's not mold, cause it's not white lol. But yeah, she started to eat herself.

Wow dude those buds look pretty cool even for what all happened during the flower cycle, makes me wonder how potent she could have been.

Congrats on the chop chop bro. Yeah it wasn't that hard for me either (I thought it would be painful like putting an old pet to sleep, but not at all lol). Is this how I cut it? I have these cola's, and I have no idea how to cut it down to fit in the jars. The lines represent cutting with scissors lol. Or do I do this:

See, I have no idea how to cut it up lol. Does the stem run completely through the buds? Do I just break it off the stem in chunks? I'm so lost on this part lol
